Weird Internet Connection Problem - Help :)

I've been having this weird connection problem the past week or so. I've called my ISP a few times and they haven't even been able to help. Before I switch ISPs, I want to make sure the problem isn't just with my comp.

Have you ever heard of a computer that can't connect to the internet for the same 3 and 1/2 hour block every day? I don't know if it's precise, but it seems like I get kicked off the internet from 1pm to 4:30pm Eastern.

Any idea what might be happening?

I don't want to offend you since I can see that you've been around here for a while but...have you tried bringing everything down..computer, router, modem...and then fire everything back up in this order...modem, router then computer. Just for S&G's I'd run a check for malware, trojans etc with Malwarebytes Malwarebytes.org You might be surprised by what it finds

I've never really seen a computer drop from the internet at regular times like this unless it was a shared connection. I know that at work we peg out a 3 MB connection (two T-1's) every morning from 8:30 to about 10 and then again from 5 to 5:30 because of end users watching YouTube and other crap. I get complaint from people all the time saying that the internet is down.

Do all yout troubleshooting and if that doesn't fix it...if you can't ping anything during those hours after shutting everything down and rebooting then it might be an issue with a line or a card in the Central Office...I've seen this happen...had a T-1 act flakey and the internet connection drop one of our T-1's at work. As soon as the engineer came out to test the line it came back up. It wound up being a problem with a card several miles from our office. Weird things can and do happen every day.

To ping something click on start and then run...type in cmd and hit enter. In the black box type in ping Google and hit enter. You should get reply times back for four packets sent. If the times are up there like over 40 or so millliseconds then there's some sort of problem.

    Hope this helps!

seriously...if that doesn't work just PM me and I'll send you my cell number and we'll get that straightened away for you. I've done desktop support and network administration for years now. We'll cut through the garbage and figure this out....I know that I feel like I'm stranded in the arctic tundra without an internet connection....don't care about the tv but don't take my internet connection!!!!

Thanks! I might resort to that!

I'll pay you if you can actually get the problem fixed. My ISP can't help, and I don't want to get another ISP in case it's just a problem on my end.

I can't recall how it is done or how to undo it, but is there perhaps an internet timer on your computer (not sure what it is called off the top of my head), we have my daughters computer set so that from 9 at night till 8 in the morning it can't connect to the net. May be worth googling, someone may have been playing with your computer and done it.

Hope you get it all resolved.

How many computers do you have? Are they all having the same problem?

I have a laptop that kept losing connection when my other computers had no problems. It turned out to be Windows Defender was disconnecting the internet after a certain amount of time.

Why I have no idea, but disabling Windows Defender fixed that issue.
