Site Flipping with Hostmonster or Weebly

Has anyone here flipped a site that they had hosted with either Hostmonster or Weebly? If so, how did you handle pushing the domains and/or transferring the files? In Weebly's case, did you have multiple Weebly accounts and then give the buyers the login and password to one of the accounts? Or is there another way?

I've read several ebooks and reports on site flipping (including several I got here as WSOs), but I can't find answers in ANY of them for these specific questions.

Your help is appreciated.

    Just FYI - I have just recently signed up for a reseller account with Hostgator, because i want to get more into site flipping.

    In the meantime, however, I've got several domains registered over at Hostmonster that I want to get rid of - and a couple sites at Weebly I'd like to sell.

    Backup the site and hand them over the files. Push the domain. Don't wait for a domain transfer. They can transfer the domain wherever they like after your push it into their account.

    I have a HostGator reseller account and STILL use add-on domains. I find it easier to run all of the sites I own that way. Why do I have a reseller account? When I do sell a site and sell them my hosting, THAN I set up their own account and move my site over.

    Again, I only do this for sites I plan to own and decide to sell. For a site I decide to sell from the get-go, than I don't use add-on domains.

        "pushing" a domain name means transferring it to another account on the same registrar. Most registrars refer to it this way.

        If you have a site set up where you got the domain name free with a hosting account, you might be best just signing over the account to them. That happened to me once when I bought a site hosted at HostGator.

        I don't know anything about Hostmonster or Weebly. If they do separate domain registrations, then they're mainly a registrar. If they do hosting that includes a domain (like Yahoo does), they probably do the domain registration through a third-party, and it'll be confusing as heck trying to transfer the domain name separately from the hosting.

        Think of it this way:

        The "registrar" is like your local Dept of Motor Vehicles (DMV). If you sell a car to someone, you just sign the title over to them.

        If they're local, it's prettys simple for them. But if they live in another state, they'll have to jump through a lot more hoops to get the car registered in that state. That's like if THEY want the domain at a different registrar. You cannot "push" it to them there. The onus is on them to deal with it, and you want to keep it that way.

        If the domain is at a regular registrar, tell them to get an account there (it's usually free) and push the domain to them. If they want to move it to another registrar, that's up to them later -- after it's out of your hands.

        Also, when you change ANY of the registration info other than the Admin info, it locks the domain for 60 days. When you do a "push", it only changes the internal accounting status and maybe the Admin info. This allows the new owner to do whatever he likes, without a 60-day hold being placed on the domain.

    Who are the domains registered with? Did you register them with GoDaddy/Namecheap/some other register or the webhost (HostMonster).

    If it is the webhost I am not sure how you would transfer the domain to someone else. Let me give you some advice, NEVER register your domain with your webhost. Register them yourself at the registrar of your choice. I recommend this to everyone, but especially someone who wants to get into site flipping.

      I registered them with my host (Hostmonster).

    Youve made a smart choice here, the problem with addon domains is that if you have a problem with one domain (traffic spikes, unweildy scripts etc) you will have all domains suspended. Whereas on a reseller account only the problem domain is supspended.

    As far as weebly goes, im almost certain that you can export the full html source and send that to the customer which they can then just upload to their own hosting.

    Most of the buyers of my sites do not know how to install a site. Giving them the files is futile and you will have to become expert at transferring a site from one host to another if you want to get a good reputation and provide good customer service. I've posted my instructions for transferrring a site to another host here: http://domainingdiva.com/installationinstructions.pdf. These instructions are for moving from one host and domain to another but can be used for just moving to a new host.

    Transferring control of a Weebly site to someone else is a tricky one. I think you're going to have to fork over the account and pw because of how their interface is set up. I can't think of any other way you would do it...
