Paid research tool over Google keyword planner

Hi, wondering what is the value add of a paid research tool over Google keyword planner.

As understand so far, most of the info in a paid research tool is pulled from Google keyword planner and then presented in a more useful format.

One particular aspect of a paid research tool stands out though. And that is the ability to assess the level of organic competition for the keywords. Though keyword planner is able to show the level of competition people are willing to PAY for it, it doesn't show the ORGANIC competition to get it on first page of Google.

As new to this keyword thing, would be great to hear some comments on the above.

Thanks

I've used long tail pro and found it to be much better than just using Googles. Like you mentioned, the competitor analysis is a great feature, but as well as that I found that it finds more keywords for you that the Keyword Planner by Google would not have given you.

You can try Long Tail Pro I think still for 7 days before buying it.

Google analytics was built mainly for advertisers.... While tools like LTP Was built for keyword research really.

If you're seeking to find good keywords for a niche site then these third party tools will come in handy.

i guess it all depends on how well you are able to use the tools you have; either paid or free, in the hands of the right person, they could work magic

Market Samurai is another good paid keyword research tool. You can analyze many different metrics and set parameters around keyword volume etc...

After seeing much people talking about Long Tail Pro here, decided to understand more about it. If you are a newbie like myself, you may wish to know that there is a website which details how to better use LTP.

Not sure whether can mention the site here. Anyway, it's a blog by one of the creator of LTP. Should be able to easily google for the website.

Long Tail Pro is a great tool, I would recommend it over market samurai (because MS seems to have a lot of bugs). A lot of the people that are the most successful don't rely on either of these tools, but develop their own process of uncovering great long tail keywords with a spreadsheet or even custom made tools.
