Article submission vs. social bookmarking

Quick question:

If I write an article, is it better to submit it to a ton of article directories, or a ton of social bookmarking sites?

Even with time-saving tools like ArticleBot and SocialBot, there's only so much time in the day. So which one takes priority? If "it depends," could you elaborate?

I think you need not differentiate. What is wrong in posting your articles to both article directories and social bookmarking sites which are drawing a flood of visitors.

Submit to both - lots of articles directories and lots of social bookmarking websites, and then social bookmark the all of the articles.

      Hope i've helped

Do both. The more links you have pointing back
to your site, the better your rankings will be in
the search engines. Which in turn will bring more
    visitors to your site.

I have found out that in the short term Social bookmarking has brought me a surge in traffic but then soon after just dies down while article submission is allot more constant with the traffic.

Submit to a load of article directories and social bookmark them all. It's not an either/or game, it's a number game.

Ok, you have said that both take too much time, but let me throw out a 3rd option: instead of submitting 5 articles per day to only article directories, why not submit 3 a day to the directories and social bookmark the articles.

That way your 3 articles should have more authority and visitors than the 5 article option.

I you're only choosing one, then make it an article directory, but if your social bookmarking site accepts that sort of word count then fire away

TEST IT. Depends on whats you are marketing.

I would suggest to do both, see what gives you results and you have your answer.

Now if both gives you results, hhhhhm, even better

In the grand scheme of things, you want your traffic to be coming from google. Any traffic you get from articles and social bookmarking is just a bonus as they say. The main point of performing these submission tasks is to get links back to your site with the relevant anchor text. This in turn will increase your search engine rankings for the keywords you anchored and subsequently result in more traffic.

Article Marketer was always a favourite of mine, but recently Unique Article Wizard has been a great performer although takes a little more time to setup each article.

When it comes to Social Bookmarking there is still no better tool than Bookmarking demon for this process.

All of the tools i mentioned above are about saving you time, and getting you the maximum amount of links in return for the time spent.

Yes you want it to come from Google, however that is only a %. What you want is a balance of difference sources. I get about 20% of my traffic from Google and most of the rest from direct input (which comes from referals and branding of videos I believe). In the bigger picture you want it to come from a variety of sources. If Google says we dont like you, it cannot hit your site hard + google will take sometime.

I say test it and do what works.

Yup, you can never argue with what works.

I was speaking mainly from a Niche marketing perspective where time invested in each site needs to be kept to the bare minimum. If you are working on only 1 or two sites then as Mukul says use every method under the sun to promote and drive traffic to your site.
