PAD File Problems

Hi there,

I have an application called The DOT (see sig for download) which I want to upload to various download sites.

Many of these need a PAD file for information.

I've created the file successfully and see best practice is to sign the file.

So, I created a keypair and, validated the PAD file, created a pfx file with Portecle and then tried to sign the PAD file using both PADGen and the command line utility signpad.

Both returned the following error:
"Cannot verify extended key usage"

Not sure where to specify such attributes using the tool but perhaps someone in Warriorland will know?

Hi Jack,

Sorry for the tardy delay.

I did manage to overcome the hurdle a while back.

Here's how:
The official PAD Generator software could not generate an up to date valid PAD file version (it was generating a file compliant with an older spec - this may have changed over the last year so by all means use the PAD Generator software to create new PAD files and then follow up).

So, what I did was take the non compliant XML file, look at what was missing from the specification itself and added the relevant XML fields manually.
