How to Promote Your Business Through Blog-Comments/Forum-Posts

Okay, of course, we all know how to promote our business through blog commenting and forum posting, but my questions is, how can I promote myself in those forums or blogs where posting any kind of link is not allowed?

I've seen numerous million-dollar blogs/forums where people often engage in healthy discussions, but those platforms don't allow any kind of advertisement. So, is there any way which I can use to promote myself, or my business in those platforms? Or, those blog/forums aren't good for the entrepreneurs?

Is there any way through which I can take advantage of them?

I believe you can promote yourself. Think about it as a reader who is not trying to promote anything, just looking for good information. What would happen if you are reading a post in a forum and the OP comes off as very knowledgeable, courteous, and kind? You would be impressed, right?

Now, the next logical step you would want to take is to find a way to get in touch with this guy/lady. Suppose that person's name is Uday Hansen. (I just picked a name...nobody I know ). Stay with me for another sec. So the guy goes on to say..."If you need more info on this, just look me up at Instagram, or Facebook, or Twitter..or whatever.

I'll pick up from here now. What will happen is that those readers who are interested will go look him up. Better yet, if he mentions his website...like prospertiyinmotion dot net...as I couldn't get the dot com version (honestly Admin, I am not promoting, just making a point). That's even better. People will go look up the guy. Not because of his/her promotion, but because of the aforementioned perceived qualities! So you see, by being yourself, and being willing to give before you ask for anything, you can promote yourself very well in spite of the short-shortsightedness of some forum Admins...(present company excluded of course).

    Hope that helps.

Personally, I think your best best is to participate in those discussions and always have something relevant, helpful, and valuable to say. Over time, readers will see and begin to recognize that you are involved in the niche and you know what you're talking about. You should be able to leave your name or business name with every post, even though it may not be in "link" form and clickable. If even that is not allowed, move on to other venues.

I agree! Participate in the community and make posts that add to the value of the topic. Help others if you can. Add to the discussion. If you are a good member of the community, people will take notice in time.

There are a lot of ways and platforms you can use to promote your business.
Online blog and forum communities are more on relationship and reputation building.
For promotion purposes, the aim should not be all about links distribution but also how you can contribute and add value to people online.

Every word that comes out of your mouth (or in this case, posted on the internet) is branding you in some way. Even if you're not able to link directly to your content, you are still building an image of yourself in people's heads.

I always apologize to people who claim they don't know me because that means I haven't done a good job marketing myself to them and I need to up my game.

Be everywhere, even if it doesn't get you a link or there's no way for people to end up on your website at that very moment. Eventually people will begin to recognize you and it will lead to long-term results later down the road.

I can't even count the number of sales I've made on my products that are completely due to the fact that people have 'seen me around' and feel like they know me despite the fact that I've never even talked to them before.

Bravo, James. Am working that right now. Build the rep, build the posters, they will follow you.

    Hey Chris,
Most of those Forums do have PMs access for all members. And also like WF they have an icon where you can Click on to go to someone's homepage.

My advice is to NOT discount those two aspects.

It may not seem like Advertising or in anyway directly exposing your biz to the masses.

But over time if you start really adding to the Community and showing your expertise in worthwhile Posts, you would be surprised how many people check out your Homepage or PM you

Its for the taking. Just have patience

I agree with Steve B, as long as you participate and offer relevance you should be okay.

Most forums will allow you to add a link in the post, but the trick is to not overdo it. Space things out a bit by participating in various discussions, then leave a link to an article that is relevant, just don't do it on every post as you could find yourself skating on thin ice

    Chris,

    Don't promote, just help.

If you help people out they will recognize your expertise and click your links. They know where they are...

    Make sense?

Yeah man. Just hang out and help people out. Make sure you got a place for people to head back to. Like Steve said, at least an unclickable URL - or you bounce.

And people *DO* check profiles out. Think about it. I've done it. You see a guy or gal's name enough times and they seem knowledgeable, its only natural to go...

    “Hmm?”

If you're looking for conversions, focus on niche specificity when looking for threads to reply to.

If you're looking to just help out, feel free to respond to any threads you can add value to.

With that said, beware of volume posting... Doing so can actually work against you if you're not careful.

It would be wise to PM people or at least ask them to PM you if they have any other questions after you leave alegit comment.

That can get you kicked out of many forums. If people want to know more, THEY will PM you.

Most forums these days will not even allow new users to post a link in their signature. If you give a lot of value and have at least 30-60 posts, some of them will allow you to post your own link.
