How to move forward with site about health, games, and inspiring stories.

I feel like I am definitely more of a writer than an entrepreneur these days. However, I do want to get my writing out into the world and potentially make money through it if possible. My current Wordpress site is about helping people with pain or disabilities find fulfillment through games, sports, and related activities. I used to teach kids games and I have some health stuff so this seemed like a logical intersection. I'd also like to do some profiles on people (celebrities or anyone) that overcome health issues and accomplish goals. Maybe YouTube videos.

I'm aware of the necessity of guest-blogging, search engine optimization, using social media, monetization, or running advertisements, but I never seem to force myself to do that. Instead, I just start writing about something new to entertain myself and never move forward. I'm curious if anyone has any general advice, or specific methods they would do in my situation with this type of site.

Thank you for your feedback.

If you can create quality videos on this topic, it's a good possibility they may go viral. You can also promote the videos on Facebook by creating a Fb page and purchasing some boosts for the videos.

Sounds like you've identified your own issue. Force yourself to do the stuff that will move your business forward.

You can own a blog, or you can own a business. The former is fun, but the latter will make you money.

All successful entrepreneurs do things they don't want they do, and they continue to work and push forward when things are tough. If it were easy, everybody would be doing it.

I think you know what you've got to do.

This is good advice, but just to go into a little more detail...

How about just picking one thing you like? Really get specific and focus on one. Then really take the time to explore that hobby/niche/interest and see if there is money to be made in it.

Some questions to ask yourself when researching-
      • Are there affiliate products you could associate with it?
      • Are those products actually selling?
      • How big is this market?

If you find a specific one that could be profitable, build a separate website around that. Continue to pour your heart out writing about your passion in that subject. If you know SEO, use that knowledge to target keywords that are getting traffic. If not, go around sharing your posts where your target market hangs out (forums, FB groups, wherever).

If you love writing, then you really need to build a list as well. One of the most personal ways to communicate with people is through their inbox. If you're sharing value-based emails with people in the form of inspiration or training, people will gravitate toward you. And that's how you build a following.

Then, all you need to do is recommend products that will help them. Whether those products are yours or affiliate offers. Just make sure these are high quality offers you believe in.

      Hope that helps

Thanks for all the great feedback. I constantly create content I think is interesting, but it's often too spread out and needs more focus.

I would think about using Youtube videos to direct people to a Facebook page you create dealing with your topics. The reason for this is because people react most to videos these days, and Facebook gives you the platform to elaborate on your expertise in this topic as well as have interaction directly with those interested. Facebook also would allow your message to be spread amongst others more quickly to broaden your audience.
