Can we trust Moniker and Estibot? Do they keep all data searched on their site?

Hi forumers.

Just wondering whether sites like Moniker and Estibot can be trusted?

About 10 days ago I did a mass check on Moniker and found some valuable domains worth hundred thousands of dollars when i double checked with Estibot..

But suddenly my laptop got problem and couldn't be turned on. When I use another computer 2 days later, found out that all the valuable domains that I was interested to register already taken.

Just wondering whether the webmaster or admin of those sites keep all the data searched by visitors/users and register them before we do?

Or is there any tool out there that give information which keyword rich domains are being searched by people which are still available?

This is really irritating..

    Nearly all the big registrars save search data - GoDaddy, Moniker, eNom etc. It's a shady practise, but unfortunately they all do it. GoDaddy were doing it long before Moniker (Moniker started 1.5-2 years ago, GoDaddy have been doing it for 3+ years if receall correctly), but is bad nonetheless.

    Estibot might do this as well; it's a free tool so I guess there's nothing stopping them do it.

      IIRC Google saves their search data also. And they're a registrar too, albeit it is
      for their own purposes.

      So...what's shady there?

        What is shady is not disclosing that all successful search terms are reviewed, and if you don't purchase a domain, GoDaddy just might register it instead.

        You only get one bite at that apple.

      They got money selling the data?

      But I read somewhere Estibot won't share what we search in the site.

      Godaddy has been doing it for well over 7 years. In 2003 I had domain I queried, a rather obscure fabricated term with an certain pronouncable appeal... but due to a network outage, it expired out of my shopping cart. It showed up as unavailable (I assumed because my shopping cart was waiting to expire, but after an hour or so of waiting and retrying, I went to bed.) The next morning it was registered.

      While I'll never reveal my exact recipe for testing potential domain names (I have built a suite of my own tools), you can rest assured that my potential domain names NEVER hit any registrar unless they are going direct to a purchase transaction.

      This practice goes beyond shady. It is blatantly unethical. Shame on godaddy. Bible software and christian principles my a**.
