This just in. I just saw a gig on fiverr of a person who has created an automated reading program. It will generate artificial KENP or kindle edition nomalized pages views.

Well, most of us know about fake pages views. For example, Google had to clamp down on people using them on sad sense, but fake views are still around since they give the you tube videos an advantage over genuine views. People like to sort on number of views.

Basically, this is how the gig works. People upload to kindle an enormous book of poems. Mostly, it is computer AI generated garbage gibberish and then the artificial book readers go to work on generating FAKE page views.

This fiverr reading program has a 10,000 page limit so your book cannot be any larger in size.

OK so at the going rate of one half penny per page the 10,000 page book will generate $50 for you.

This vendor claims to have 20 different KU accounts - probably got some free ones.

OK so, that means just one gig can generate 20 X 50 = $1000 for you.

Well, for sure amazon will blow a gasket on this one.

Maybe they will ban mega size books - no war and peace.

Also, they will no longer be able to run their current algorithm that judges authors on total pages read any more. This is a catastrophe waiting to occur. I don't know why they did not see this one coming.

Probably they will just go back to paying $1.50 per borrow again.

No, they aren't that dumb. The whole KENP deal came about due to people gaming the system with crappy little spamlets with racy covers and salacious descriptions. The "authors" didn't care if you read or not, just make the borrow.

If they determine that scummers like this can't be controlled, they'll likely just kill payments for KU altogether.

Sounds like a trap to me.

KU brings a lot of readers (customers) through the doors, I doubt they'll get rid of it.

You're right, they won't kill the program outright. Just the payment to authors/publishers for KU borrows.

    It's an arms race.

You put out a legit program.

Somebody else will trying to game the system.

Think of it as an evolutionary arms race.

A certain % of any system will always be lost to fraud.

Whatever happened to people getting paid to provide real value to others?

Instead, so many people are chasing stolen pennies instead of earned dollars.

They will ban them easily, they must have a good algorithm.
