I have recently taken on a marketing and media representative position for a gaming site, and the developers tell me that the cookie duration is only set for 24 hrs. I have done a lot of affiliate marketing, and the norm for me has been between 14 days to 90 days for the life of an affiliate cookie. And in some cases a lifetime cookie is set.

I can at some degree understand why a CPA offer would want to do this, because if they are paying xx amount of dollars for sign-ups, but aren't converting players into depositing any money into the system for entering tournaments or competing for cash prizes, the company would be losing money. Their logic is that should make advertiser more inclined to push a quick conversion, it would be tougher that way, but it ensures that they are not sending "pay to signup" clicks.

Any suggestions from experienced marketers on what you think about this situation would be welcome.
