List Building - Only for What Niche?

Hello, Warriors!

I'm wondering if list building applies only to MMO niches.

I can hardly think of anything to follow-up the subscribers if it's not a MMO niche.

Please clear my doubts, thanks!

Regards,
SR

The Verdict: Every business needs a list of clients and subscribers.

It can be for almost anything that you can write about or get content for to use in your subscriber emails, and that has complementary affiliate products you can promote to the list. So...natural remedies, skincare, gardening, dog training, green living, dating...etc. etc. You could find dozens of list building niches with a bit of research.

List building applies to all niches.

There is high competition in MMO niche.

You can try list building for health, games, dating, golf, travel and iphone niches by posting articles to ezinearticles.com and posts in relevant forums.

    Good luck.

List building should apply, in my mind at least, to everything you do in marketing. Everything!

I suggest building a list of your list, oh and always have a to do list. Can you tell I am mad about list building. Only when there is no chance of repeat business ever can you even half excuse not building a list.

A customer/mailing list is like life insurance for a business. If something happened to a business that made it stop functioning for a couple of months the business can always use their mailing list to keep their customers aware of the situation and to plan a big grand-reopening.

Lists help you build and strengthen customer relationships so that customers feel loyal to your brand.

Every single one of the replies so far have said it right, there's no other way but to build a list.

What's nice is that you don't even need to have a product, you could promote just about anything that is seemingly relevant to you niche.

And remember that you always want quality, targeted subscribers, not solely quantity.

List-building (building a database) is critical to your marketing
across all niches, and both online and offline. So is following
up with that database on a regular basis.

You have to be in front of your prospects when they are
ready to buy... and you never know when that's going to be,
so you need a way to maintain regular contact with them.

Isn't that the truth! Seems like people are always pressing the issue of building a list, but keeping in REGULAR contact with them...not so much.

The BIGGEST stumbling block most people have when it comes to list building, from my experience, is they fear the technical side of things so they try to convince themselves they don't need a list or that "their" niche isn't suited for building a list.

Of course that is extremely limited thinking because of course you need a list... everyone needs a list... even Wal-Mart has a list of prospects and customers.

Like a few others have already said, if you want to make money online you need a list. But don't limit your thinking into believing you have to create a MMO list... because a list can be in any niche you want.

Now if you want a profitable list there are certain steps you need to go through, precautions you need to be aware of, actions you need to take but at the end of the day you really have no business (or a very limited one) until you do create a list.

Take this for example... if you are an affiliate marketer and figure you don't need a list because you don't want to make your traffic jump through hoops, you just want the sale... you need the sale. Well, what if you started to create a list, made it well worth their while to join your list and could then continue to market to them over time. The lifetime value of that subscriber is going to be worth a lot more to you than making a few people cranky about having to opt-in.

If you are going about your business in an ethical, responsible manner then you shouldn't feel you have to try and please everyone. This is a business after all so treat it like a business and start building a list NOW!

You and I are probably not going to be the next YouTube so having a list is crucial in any business offline or online... it's just smart business!

Mike pretty much summed up the necessity of building a list perfectly.

The beauty with a well-targeted list is that you could make that sell over and over to the same crowd. But before you ever think about selling them a product, you need to build a trusting relationship with them.

Before pushing to sell anything, I would send out messages to your list about valuable and relevant information that could help them. Once you have them trusting what you tell them, that's when you could begin selling them products.

This is the method that many of the big time marketers have done it and succeeded.

Absolutely... and if anyone is having even the slightest bit of success building a list in the MMO space I encourage you to step outside that market and you'll see just how effective building a list can be.

The MMO space see's all the latest tactics and strategies but when you go into a space were they aren't used to that sort of thing, they aren't spending 22 hours a day analyzing and studying these sorts of things then you will see a huge difference...

That is me when I started Mike. I thought figuring out an autoresponder and setting up an opt in form was too much for me to figure out. When I signed up for aweber It took all of 15 minutes to create and install an opt in form on my website.

Now I have over 100 opt in forms working for me and they were incredibly easy to set up.

I wouldn't enter niche without building a list in it.

    Ah I see.

So I need an Autoresponder service to start a list?

What if the product I'm promoting is a one-off solution, for example the Acne niche.

These people just want their acne away, is building a list of prospects in the acne niche a viable strategy?

    Regards,
    SRLee

P.S Sorry for the no-reply. I just came back from school.

    SRLee,

Yes you'd need an autoresponder to start a list. Aweber and Get Response are the two most prominent ones. They cost about 20 to 30 bucks a month to start.

I pretty much agree with what the others said - any business can build a list. Some will be more effective than others, and others less so, but all businesses should have a database of subscribers, clients and customers that they can keep in contact with just one mailing.

For example, I buy clothes from this outlet and I'm on their list. They send me updates about their promotions though email and SMS every few months.

For an Internet marketing list, you'll need to mail once a week at least.

    Different rules for different niches.

For the acne niche, once clients have solved their acne problem, you can move them to another list for skin care solutions, as an example. So you can start sending them information on PREVENTING acne, getting a better complexion, removing brown spots etc.

While the Internet marketing niche has a lot of competition, competition is just one thing. The demographics of the market is another.

For instance, people who are into Internet marketing like we are will probably spend more time checking their emails, so that somewhat negates the amount of competition in the MMO niche.

In other niches, people may check their computer less often although there are lesser email marketing competitors in the direct marketing sense.

MMO niche - more competitors, more computer savvy clients

Other niches in general - maybe more more or less competitors, but people generally check their email less often than home business entrepreneurs

There is even a Giveaway event coming up soon in the 'fitness' niche I believe. A list is a vital component to any online business, regardless of the niche. As soon as you think about making money online I think list building should be your main focus and remain that way.
