One For The Clickbank Theorists

** Disclaimer - I am not suggesting there is something wrong with Clickbanks tracking, just thought this might be interesting **

About a month ago I made a couple of affiliate sites and decided to use a Clickbank account I had never used but had created when I first came online looking for ways to make money. (Late last year)

Over the course of a few weeks I had 830 hops for a few different products with a total of zero sales. I recalled people saying how they had opened a new account and changed their links and sales had resumed so I thought why not, there is nothing to lose I'm going to make a new account.

I made the new account two days ago and changed the links. Since then, there has been 60 hops and a sale just came through for one of the products.

Is this just a case of coincidence?

As I said above I'm not suggesting there is something wrong with Clickbanks tracking, however, I thought some people might be interested by it..

One sale and less than 1000 hops isn't enough to base a theory on.

Yes, you're probably right. As I said, I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with their tracking. I just thought that this might have been of interest to those that do think there is something wrong with it.

The only way to be sure about that is to split test a campaign, and track your own ads

I am a member on a few other forums and I have
been hearing this problem alot now.

Maybe there is a glitch with their tracking.
try to use Paydotcom.com and sign up there and
see if you the same problem.

      I'm using an html redirect.

mysite.com/recommends/product1 with the index.html file of the product1 folder being an html redirect.

        Pat,
I think you might have to wait another 890 hops before you'll know if you are onto something...

Seriously though, let's assume that the conversion rate for the product is .11%, then you may have that "buyer" at the beginning, or at the end, but it should eventually even out to 1 buyer every 890 clicks...

Now...there's probably a flaw in that thinking...but I do think with only 1 sale and a small test sample, their isn't any statistical relevance with this...

Of course, that is purely my 2 cents...

        Keep testing though...

        Cheers,

I think people are missing the point.

I'm not flaming Clickbank and accusing their system of being shocking or anything like that.

Frankly, I think their system works fine.

I just thought that the people who don't believe their system works would have found this coincidence interesting.

I'm not claiming this to be any amazing founding that proves Clickbanks tracking doesn't work. I simply thought that the coincidence was interesting.

Obviously if the next 800 hops bring in 20 sales then there might be something to it.
