If you don't learn, you don't earn

Why is it that so many newbies come on this forum and others and expect to make $1000
by next week by buying a $5, $25, or even a $300 product? What is that $5 product going
to help you do? Probably nothing. I'd honestly say a $5 product would only help people in
the following categories:

Category #1: The Product Creator
Category #2: Somewhat Experienced Marketers

The Creator would benefit for the obvious reasons; financial gain, new subscribers, etc. I
believe that somewhat experienced marketers could gain something because there usually
is a golden nugget or 2 inside most of the products that you can add into your current
business.
How does a newbie expect to start a business making hundreds, thousands,
or even millions from reading a book? Even if the book tells you exactly what to do you still
can't do a thing if you have no idea about the topic.

Look around at the forum and look at the big earners and the people you respect the most.
Do you think they built their entire business based off of a $5 product? No! If they are the
best, they probably learn from or were mentored by the best. It could take someone weeks
to master something and then they go off and make a million dollars from what they
mastered. It could take someone else months to master the same thing before they go off
and create their millions. What they have in common is that they took the time to learn,
before they tried to earn.
Unless you are plugging into a proven system that will do the
work for you, there is no other option besides increasing your knowledge bank account
first.

I think you're right, too many think and hope that IM is like Roulette, but with 99% chance to win in the first spin.

Yes, you can be lucky and promote the right product, at the right time to the right people from the day you start. But from my personal experience, I know it will take a bit longer.

One step forward, and many times 2-3 steps back.

See it like poker, you need a bankroll, and you might hit some bad beats before you hit your first jackpot.
Yes, you can make your first money in the first month, but be happy with your first dollar, and don’t think that in the second month your first dollar becomes 10.000$. Exceptions yes, but that is why they are called exceptions.

You said it well my friend. Sometimes one step forward, 10 steps back. But those 10 steps will help you on your way to that next step forward!

I think patience is the key to them achieving their goals or more . $ 300 is quite large compared with newbie so I try not to. With products $ 5 they can easily give it away and find a $ 5 other products so the results are unsatisfactory and difficult to succeed.

I agree with the fact that no one should expect to make hundreds or thousands with a low dollar WSO. But, you make a good point Jan Brzeski. There is usually at least one or two nuggets that can be used to further one's online success. I have bought numerous products just for the sole purpose of learning something from them. And, if I put what they taught into practice and I made some money, that much better. But no one starts out an expert. I think we have all purchased a fair share of products starting out. I know I have. For some, it's part of the learning process.

Sometimes no matter how much a person learns, they still fail. The numbers remain the same every year... 95% unsuccessful, 5% successful. I believe that anyone can have success selling online on their own website, but unfortunately... it just WON'T happen.

Learning IM is defiantly a one step-forward and two step back process and most internet marketers don’t succeed without failure behind them. To think you can jump straight out of the blocks and be making money in this business quickly is a primary reason many quit.

Anybody that has succeeded has had failure behind them or just been incredible lucky! A $5 product may help you but if you want quick success or at least quicker success then it is probably best to get a head start by finding someone that’s already achieving the success you want and paying or persuading them to mentor you.

If you don't learn you don't earn and with the IM world forever changing you need to be constantly learning to stay ahead of the competition!

    OP has a point.

    But....

You have to remember that you can learn the hard way or the easy way.

Great entrepreneurs reinvest in themselves and build their skills. None of us know everything.

The problem with beginners is they often don't have something completely established yet and so they tend not to be focused enough to know what it is exactly that they need. Shiny object syndrome is also a huge issue.

Everyone needs to do their due diligence before dropping money on an expensive product but that's much easier for experienced marketers who know what to look for.

I spent $500 last week on a training course and books knowing with absolute certainty the knowledge I gain from these materials will net me far more than $500 when I begin implementing it. That's another thing - you have to know how to implement it and take the time to do so. Some people spend too much time learning.

You're right. A lot of beginners have no idea what they would be looking for even if they tried to do their due diligence and yeah, knowing how to implement what you've learned is huge because so many books teach people theory of how to do something but not the specifics of how to do it.

Not many people want to do the work.

They want the product to do the work for them, instead of being the tool it is to help them do the work. They want to be entertained. They want the feeling that they can do it, a rush that lasts for awhile, before they give up and move on to the next shiny object.

It's easier to have a scarcity mindset.

It's easier to have a poverty mentality.

It's easier to blame something or someone else on your lack of results.

It's easier to be miserable and not share with "the doctor" the truth of your situation, so you can get honest feedback.

It's easier to sit at the bottom of the pit and whimper.

    For them, anyway.

OP, you're not going to change any minds with this thread, unfortunately. People need to come to the conclusion themselves that THEY are the ones who are responsible for their situation, and are going to get them out of it.

Many newbies fail to realise that what they want to work towards is a REAL BUSINESS. Just like the offline world, the online business is a real one. There mindset is to make ALOT of money quickly with minimal work. I guess if they think this is just a game, then sure let them have the monopoly money.

I find it funny how lately a lot of newbies come on here and share a hate thread about IM or making money online. Something along the lines of this:-

"i have been doing PPC to my clickbank product for three weeks and made no money, this shit don't work"

      Haha well.....

      • Did the person set up a funnel and direct people to high converting LP? No probably just direct linked to a crappy clickbank product.
      • Did the person spend hours upon hours looking at all the campaign settings needed to run a successful ppc campaign? No they copied 2500 keywords from the adwords planner, not taking into account QS, match type, negative keywords etc etc.
      • Did the person split test ads, define their target market or use a tracking code? No there probably set up their campaign in five minutes and set the daily budget to $100.
Now, do they see why they made no sales???

Once we can get newbies to change their mindset from quick money to long term, sustainable business, then we've done something good.

This not against anyone Warrior but I think if they are dead keen to change new warriors mindset then they should turn off their Signature, so that It would not appear that they are just here to promote their product and are in it to help.

That way we know for sure that's what the thread(s) are about and Its meaning IMHO.

Do the hard yards now and it will pay off later. I aim to invest a minimum of 10% of my income in further educating myself! Have a plan and stick to it. DO NOT expect an get rich quick schemes or anything to happen over night (unless you are in that 0.1% of hitting it luck first time). Patience and hard work will pay off but remember to humble, you will never know everything so always be learning. Keep a look out for people who are doing it better than you and don't be afraid to ask questions!

I hear what you are saying. But there is some examples where this is just not true.

There are some fantastic Marketers that I have actually purchased their products for under $10 and they provided really true value.

Alex Jeffreys is one that comes to mind.
For instance, he has Master Mind Classes that down the road he turns into a product for $10. Yeah, I guess it might piss off the Mastermind guys who pay 5K a pop but still pretty cool to have access to this info. at a incredible price.

Also Matt Bacak is another one who has crazy value for $7 products.

People may scoff at this and some may be pissed off, but its real value that can get people on the right track and give them some valuable education.

But I will have to agree most do not even take advantage of this stuff. And this stuff will not make you a $1,000 in a week. Just provides some good foundation to help add to your knowledge of how to build an online business

Robert, you're right. I meant it more in the sense that a high percentage of the cheap products released are crap but I do realize there are so gems released by great marketers for a steal.

Often times when the gems are released for $5 people still pass it up for a more hypey sales page.

      Cheers,
      Jan
