Does 3 step IM still work?

Everyone knows about it. The most basic way to MMO. A 3-step-strategy.
Traffic -> squeeze page -> offer

Im getting about 1% conversion rate on average which is considirable low.
Is anyone still doing this? If yes, what are your experiences? Does this still work in profitable way?

    When I started new that's the first thing many try and so did I,
    The honest truth is that this did not work for me at all

    The best way I realized is to build your own list...
    Then give value...
    Build a bond between your-self and the list.....
    Then start promoting when you think its right....

    A squeeze page to a bridge page then the
    offer is more better as they start to
    know you even more better....

    A bridge page is a page between the
    squeeze page and a sales page
    where you come in front of the
    camera and welcome them and
    send them to the offer as I have
    tested and got many more sales
    then just a 3 step you have showed...

    STEP 1. Identify viable demand.
    STEP 2. Provide high value supply; and
    STEP 3. Be better than all your competitors at what you do ...

    It's possible to make money with the simple 3 step strategy but if you can make much more by making a few tweaks, why would you not?

    Agree with the above, consider adding 2 steps, and you'll be good.

    Targeted traffic> Landing Page w/squeeze > Offer > Follow up emails> Analyze data

    I'm prepping a ppc campaign right now, (starting over again myself) and my main focus is to 'build my list' and convert @ 1% to cover the campaign & my list building strategy.

    If I convert any higher than 1% - I'll be in profit while getting a targeted audience for free, and hopefully see even higher returns on the backend (longterm) through upsells and email marketing.

    Seems to be a matter of good ad copy, landing page cta, and a trickle of sales will determine my fate...but, the real focus is communicating carefully in the email strategy, I think that'll be the key factor.
