curious guys ...how much content will load a site which need to upgrade your host plan?

I just wonder because one of my friend his site got many contents and recently have to upgrade his hosting plan.

    If it is just text, it will cost almost nothing; if he is uploading photos in original size it will come a bit more expensive. If he uploads videos get your checkbook ready to pay big time.

      video wise is using plugin so is on youtube server side.

        I host over 1.000.000.000 pages of content and millions of photo. I pay 1500$ a month.

        When the website was just several million pages I paid 100$

        For websites with 1000 pages, you will not have to pay more than 10$ a month.

        If the videos are hosting on youtube then no bandwidth / web space is used so no issue. For photos you need to give exact size (in MB). Not all hosting provides have the same policy so make sure you ask your hosting provider before buying hosting.

    You should measure the size of your files, before buying a hosting. Such as 500 MB & 1 GB hosting rate are not same. On the other hand there are two Brandwith packages also, 1. Limited Brandwith 2. Unlimited Brandwith. You need to know these things before buying any hosting packages. Thanks

    As others have said, a lot depends on your content and also your hosting plan.

    For instance, Hostgator advertise their accounts as unmetered disk space but their small print says there is an inode (files) limit of 100,000 above which their weekly backups don't happen and a 250,000 limit above which you're outside their terms and conditions.

    Other hosting packages will have different limits but even 250k is a lot of files.

    A general rule is that the cheaper "unlimited everything" packages will have limits that most of their customers will never reach but once you do, you'll be expected to upgrade to a more expensive option where everything is measured and charged.
