Fellow tweeters,

I stumbled upon this article : Twitter Declares Checkmate on Twitter Gamers

So pay close attention if you decide to go for automation..
It can be fatal for your business

You got that right... I'm tired of getting 8 tweets in a row all at the same time from one dude. Man, do people ever use Twitter (or any social media) the wrong way and they don't even know it... LOL

I hear that - I ALWAYS unfollow anyone who does that.

They said this months ago. I came here and warned people at the time.

It doesn't mean the end of automation at all - it just means that people will need to be smarter when making their tools.

I had my own tool created months ago and it works in accordance with all of Twitters policies and won't let me do anything against them, but it's still easy for me to do everything I need to for getting tons of targeted followers, manage my DMs and Tweets etc.

I had considered selling it, but since most people who want automation tools want to be able to push the limits I decided not to sell and just use it for myself and my clients. It's worked perfectly every time and never had any negative effects - but then I haven't given it to 1000 people and told them to go blast Twitter with it, so it's not surprising that it still works.

There's nothing wrong with using tools to systemise and automate manual processes, but that's a different thing to spamming or abusing systems (which is what most people who need to worry are doing).

You hit the nail on the head! Automation is about helping you save time on stuff you would otherwise have to do yourself.

Unfortunately most people end up abusing automation tools to spam.

There is nothing wrong with Twitter automation. It's the same when we do auto-posting to blogs or plan our autoresponders. Those are automation in action too.

I do plenty of Twitter automation - drawing feeds and publishing them. And also having a list of tweets planned in a text file and scheduling them for publishing.

The trick is in the spacing out of tweeting. Make it seem natural. Like a human would carried out himself.

I don't use these tools with twitter. I follow who I like manually. Interesting article though. Still pretty new to twitter but I once considered mass following. Decided against it.

Interesting. I guess I'd say lucky those who have already ramped up their followers and poor those who haven't cos they'll have to do it the good old, slow way...
