What To Split Test (Advice of an Affiliate Marketer)

For this topic I am going to center it around optin pages your gate way to building your business online and creating the life blood that will continue to grow your business strong day after day.

The key here is to take the same amount of traffic already coming to your pages but to tweak it, make adjustments, split test and find out how to convert more of that traffic.

Why?

Traffic is hard to come by, it is either time consuming or expensive there is no other way about it. Our job as home based businesses is not to generate more traffic but to instead get our pages in front of existing traffic sources and convert as much of it as possible at the highest possible percent so we can fatten our list and get our message out to the world.

What I have tested so far.

Every day I continue to tweak and adjust my campaigns but there are a few adjustments I have made over this last year which have really kicked up the percentages and I want to share those with you today.

1) The Days Of Long Sales Pages Are Gone

Face it, when is the last time you really sat down and read over sales copy on a website?

With all the advancements in today's world more people are geared to getting what they want quickly and not having to wait around for it. This is why when I changed my long sales form letter to a video and optin form sitting next to it with about 40 total words on the page I have been able to increase my optins on this page alone by 28% this year.

2) Give Options But Point Out Which One They Should Get

With most of my products and services there are separate tiers or levels of membership or value in a product.

For example my most recent one I tested was a $97. $297 and $497 plan. While all options are valuable I created a image which highlighted the features of each and pointed out the $297 plan being the most popular.

Wait... What?!

Thats right my mid level is the most popular buy and this is why it was pointed out in the product. You think this would hurt sales and I should have pointed the $497 as the most popular but honestly that is not the case and only a select few end up grabbing that $497 offer because it is out of the range for most of my leads.

This is fine, with the extra push I have seen a 17% increase in the sales of $297 over the $97 plan while keeping the $497 plan at roughly the same number of conversions. This resulted in more profits for the company and has allowed me to deliver more value to the people that where serious and wanted to commit to that level.

3) Does A 8% Increase Really Matter?

This was a test I did on my basic lead capture page. I normally do a 2 step optin where a button is clicked and a pop up is then displayed and asks for name and email address.

In this test I pushed just asking for email address and a submit button directly in line on the page from left to right instead of top to bottom like most optins.

To my surprise without changing anything else but that, the traffic coming to this page has converted at 8% higher!

8% big whoop right?

But take that 8% over 100 visitors and that's 8 more leads, or 80 for 1,000. You can see that just a small bump in conversions makes a lasting impression on your business and should be something you constantly do. Split testing is important!

What to do with this information? Learn from it and understand that you should be split testing and clearly seeing what changes you make affect your overall business. Never settle and continue to strive to keep increasing your conversion rate. Take some of the above as suggestions on things you can try with your own products or services. I hope this has helped some of you out and have an awesome day!
