Hi, I am considering starting a part-time information product marketing business - particularly around information product creation, and then selling the products. I have an idea of a few products in mind, but before going to the length/cost of creating the product, I'd like to test the market to see if there are enough people willing to buy. For example, I could post a survey on a related forum, but this could alienate people? I seem to be stumbling on this first stage and getting nowhere. Can anyone suggest some ideas on how to help with this. Thanks! |

Hi, I see your new here. There is a lot of really good information about everything related to internet marketing on the forum... it can be overwhelming at first. Start by asking this question, are their other successfull products out already in the niche you plan on targeting. If so... it doesn't matter, you still might create a product nobody wants. Your survey is a good idea. Qualitrics is great. They give you a lot of statistics tools. I think you can do it with Getresponse now, but that's only through E-mail. Scanning forums for problems is always a good idea. If you can find a problem that appears often you have a good chance of creating a winning product. You have to figure out if it's such an urgent problem that people are willing to spend money on it. For example, a problem some people face is lice, but should you write an E-book about it? Everyone knows basically what to do about them already. Their are shampoos that teach you what to do. The internet is full of free information. Your book would need a very unique angle and it would have to target the people who've tried everything and still need help. That means your book better provide these people with real information. You have to give them something unique. If you offer them the free information on the internet, your not really providing a service at all. A good way to research the niche is by starting out as an affiliate. The first advantage is that you learn a lot about the niche by writing content and visiting the forums. Second, you build quality authority sites that you can then use the promote your own products later on. I hope this helps you get started. Thanks, George Christodoulou |
