    Depends...

    Are they highly targeted opt-ins?

    Or

Freebie seekers you bribed with a free PLR eBook?

Are you writing quality follow-ups and cultivating that list?

Has an affiliate supplied you with kick ass email swipes to match the reason they opted-in?

All depends on your sales funnel, follow up emails, and your ability to build trust, respect, credibility, and/or authority.

If you suck at communicating, start with promoting offers that have a proven track record (high sales conversions, low refunds, great customer support.

    Uh, yup! What art said.

I know of a few people who make a couple thousand (average) per month on a list that's just under 1k in size. That list is super targeted, all leads on it were acquired through sales and each one is a previous customer of the list owner personally so they all are basically in this club so to speak.

Lists like that will be way more productive and profitable but they are also more difficult and expensive to build. They are also totally worth the time, effort, and expense too.

If you just built a list up and don't know what to do with it I'd make a friendly suggestion of surveying them and see what responses you get. You can then use that to segment your list into partitions and start micro campaigns to then begin building up multiple lists. You can of course still keep them all in some master list as it were but if you can dig down deeper you might have better luck in this case.

    Could you describe "descent"...

    2000$/3000$/+ ?

With a high targeted list of 1.5k + subs you can earn (depending on the niche) a lot. Maybe you could live from that list also.

It depends on your list's niche

For example: Business to consumer versus Business to Business

B2B, in many cases, can be more lucrative. Not always.
