If i am getting you, you or your client is getting fake bad reviews on a forum? Is this what you are saying?

Are you sure 100% is a competitor? If you can prove it i don't think forum owner would have many problems to remove those feedbacks.

Without proves though he has the rights to keep the posts public so, unless you can prove them they are fake, there's no much you can do about it

Lmao. How long did it take you to do that? I'm guessing way too long - especially when all you get in return is doing it for the lulz. It made me laugh, though...

Do the same thing you do with all bad reviews. Damage control. Ignore it or combat it. Post on the forum yourself. Maybe call attention to it and debunk it publicly. Use it as a PR opportunity. Advertising.

^This. Take a deep breath, and use it as an opportunity to come out ahead.

If the forum owner does not want to remove it, then you'll need to work on burying the information. There's numerous ways that this can be achieved.

Hopefully his competitor used better English otherwise nobody would understand his "smear" campaign...

Have to give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume they are dealing with a client in the country they are speaking from.

My suggestion - there are ways to deal with "reputation management." There are guides on the web for this.

What a useless answer. Your third post is a shameless attempt to get a person asking for help to check your sig, since all you basically said is "do reputation management", above your ad for reputation management.

If that is the level of help you intend to offer here, do us all a favor and take a hike. The proliferation of posts like this are the reason so many serious marketers have stopped taking the Warrior Forum seriously as a marketers community, and view it instead as a giant newbie spam fest.

Yes to all the suggestions about damage control, but if they have the budget, your client should contact a lawyer. It is against the law for competitors to do what they did and your client has a legitimate reason to file a lawsuit.

Dang, Brian - you're on a roll tonight.

The OP disappeared, but his post is still very relevant.

Yes, there are services that hunt down and remove nasty posts, and they are needed.

There are mentally deranged people who thoroughly enjoy destroying a person's reputation with false allegations on the 'net. They do it for kicks. Total Beavis & Butthead.

And because the Internet is so good to the anonymous, it is far more prevalent in the cyber than in the bricks and mortar world.

Finding someone on the 'net to sue for libel is not always easy. A lot of these nuts use proxy servers so your search ends up on a computer at XYZ company in Outer Mongolia or a private server in Vietnam.

My best advice would be to simply ignore it...why throw fuel on the fire? Google will only reward forum threads that get a lot of action and that is something you definitely don't want. Actually on second thought, maybe do a well written rebuttle review and then leave it be.

that is a very serious allegation if you have the prove. but if the information is right then you will need to focus on cleaning your name. I cant see how a mature person takes to a forum and starts posting bad things about them, I suppose you know them, maybe you can approach them and sort out the issue then he or she can agree top remove the posts but that wont help much because the damage has already happened. just focus on clearing up your name to the public and all shall be well. All the best

Whatever if kids want to spam, let them spam, report their posts and ignore them, just like you would at a networking event. Avoid the leeches like the plague.

I don't see the point in established members always pointing it out. It clogs up the forum just as much as they do. I skip right over them. But I'm starting to become even more irritated at all the members here who are wasting their time responding to these stupid posts. I see someone smart, and I'm looking forward to read what they said...

And it's just more of the same.

If you think something is spam, do something about it and report the sucker. Then let's go back to being useful.

This place is Darwinism at it's finest. No amount of spam posting is ever going to catch our attention. People only click on your sig after they've seen you post useful responses for awhile. They'll get weeded out.
