Can you make a profitable business by conducting interviews?

I started a tech-news blog and after 2 months its not going anywhere, I dont even have any clicks to the site after 2 months. I'm trying to think up how I can get it off the ground.
One thing I enjoy is to ask people questions and have a friendly conversation. And then I thought of Mixergy who just gives people interviews then charges people to listen to them.

What do you think of that, going around and interviewing small business owners, then moving my way up to more successful business owners and posting it on the blog?
How difficult is it to start a business like that and get it profitable?
Did Mixergy just get lucky or are there lots of interview websites that are making it?

I took Andrew's course. He didn't get lucky. He created a system and worked his A-ha off.

He had some specifics in terms of monetization that I think would work for everyone, but there were some things that he had that worked for him because he was first.

But I think you need a niche and/or a product to offer the people who are listening.

If you watch Andrew, David Siteman Garland, John Lee Dumas, there is a pattern.

There is also a gentleman named Tim Borquin who did a course back in 2007 called Interview Income, whose information (imho) is still relevant.

And there is another consideration here...for example in my neck of the woods, 30 minutes of radio time is $300 on certain FM Stations. There is something to be said of the reach you'd get and the willingness for others to sponsor you...depending on where you live.

There is a guy named Brian Sachs who talked about that while back..google him and you may be able to find it.

You are still gonna be left with the crux of your problem: Getting consistent traffic.

It might not be a bad thing this "interview " product. But like someone already alluded to try social media particularly Facebook.

Build up a fan page test with some PPE and PPC ads to get some immediate traffic. And see the response

What have you done to actually market your site? What has your traffic strategy been? If your thinking has been "build it and they will come," well, they are not going to come unless they have been invited with a compelling reason to come.

Like Steve said building website is just a part of business, you have to work on traffic strategy too.and gaining good traffic is a long term process .

I like your interview idea, you can do that ,if you find it easy for you.but before monetization you must work for quality traffic

Yes just look at Larry King and other Talk Show Hosts. You can do it in Tech, Small Business anything really the real question is what value do you add to your audience with the interviews and what value can you add to the interviewees?

While you don't need the product, I can tell you that Andrew Warner had no tricks when it came to traffic, nor did he leave any of it to chance with Social Media and/or SEO.

You could learn a lot just by joining the $25 Mixergy.

When you do that one thing that's going to be evident right away is that Dude has been at this since the mid 2000's. He deserves the success he's having. And as you're probably hearing over and over again in other threads, he didn't hop around doing other stuff during that time.

And he was prolific when it came to doing interviews. If you can short cut that with traffic methods, I guess it's possible, I would just not be confident in it. When you have a chance, please PM me with your show...I'd love to follow it.

I think there's a misconception in this industry that if something isn't immediately profitable, it's a bust. Building a real business takes time.

Heck, even "fast" affiliate money usually requires building a good list – something that takes time.

What have you tried to do so far to promote your site?

Hard to find seminars by Michale Senoff. He's interviewed dozens of experts. You might learn something at his site, I have no affiliation. Google him.
