I am not an SEO expert, but I have a suggestion.

    Right now your title says...

Insider Tips, Tricks and Secrets to Improve Golf Swing and Lowering Your Golf Score

Maybe putting your main keywords at the beginning would help...

Improve Golf Swing and Lowering Your Golf Score with Insider Tips, Tricks and Secrets (or similar to this)

At the very least, you may get more click throughs on the link no matter where the rank in the SERPs.

    All the best,

    Do I need backlinks?
Always. ALWAYS. Don't even ask the question.

Unless you're a PPC wizard and don't even think about organic (free) SE traffic for some reason, you need backlinks that use anchor text for your main keyword(s).

Which means you first need to do keyword research to find out which phrases are the best. Did you do that already? If not, you put the cart before the horse here by putting up your sales page without knowing which keyword(s) to focus on.

Keywords, then content built around the good ones, then backlinks. That's how you win the organic SE traffic game.

I have actually chosen one keyword to rank for, that is "improve golf swing", which explains for the domain name...

I'm still not very clear whether this is done right as this is still my first time. Do I build backlinks on a regular basis or is it ok to do one shot work like 100 articles to the top 10 article directories for backlinks and be done with it?

      Thanks.

It's supposed to be a link back to the original site, what's what a backlink is called.

A back link is eponymous in the sense that it is a link towards your site either the index page or another page which has been placed on the web outside of your site. So you can use signatures in forums for this, or you can use comments on blogs etc. In practical terms backlinks are important because they are a "vote from google" in that they give more authority to your site.

It depends on the keyword, zijian.

I just ran a quick check, and the keyword 'improve golf swing' gets a pretty good number of searches every month (22,000). That's about 700 per day. So think about this for a minute... If you got the top ranking spot for that keyword, you would be looking at probably 400 or 500 visitors per day, at best. If your sales page there converts at 1%, that's 4-5 sales per day. Is that worth all the effort? It might be if you make a good profit margin per sale. Something to think about.

The bit of bad news is that your keyword - improve golf swing - has a fairly stiff amount of competition. If your domain and sales page there are brand new, it will take a good amount of backlinks and some time for you to break into the Top 10, at least from my quick analysis. It's doable, but probably not quickly.

Also, I noticed several videos were in the Top 10 for that phrase at Google. That is a big clue for you. Make a video and post it to YouTube or a similar sharing site. Then build backlinks to that video page. Might get you up the rankings faster, at least for the video, which of course you will have a link in the description to your site.

    Best of luck!

Oh, going for the term, "improve golf swing". And I'm preparing and rewriting plr articles on golf to submit to the top 10 article directories. Hope that 20 articles to the top 10 article directories is sufficient to get me some buying traffic!

Edit : sorry for sounding so noobish, could this is my real first attempt to start a product and practically all I got is plr lying around. If I could make one sale or two month from it, I would really be quite happy with it and I would make more sites then.

A 1-page site will be easy to do - obviously the comment on building backlinks is 95% of your answer as on-page factors don't count for much.

Your entire page needs to focus on one keyword phrase and you need to use as many related versions as possible. A good idea would be to pick 10 related keywords, write an article around each and puclish that to your site - making sure each links back to your main site.

After that it's ALL about backlinks.

Use your main keyword phrase in your anchor text and get as many 1-way, high PR backlinks from related sites s possible.

As a rough guide you will need 100 backlinks for each 100,000 results that Google returns for a exact match search of your term. This is only a rough indication because the PR of the backlink site (and page) makes a huge difference.

I wouldn't put much stock in this advice. What matters is how well the Top 10 in the SERPs have optimized (on-page and off-page) for that keyword phrase. If you find a link to an article directory article page in the Top 10, that's a good indication that you can probably get your own article into the Top 10 with some attention to detail and backlinks. Likewise, if the Top 10 is populated by a lot of inner pages of non-authority sites, it's a green light to go for it.

Just avoid Top 10's full of homepages and authority sites. Post your article and start backlinking using your keyword phrase as anchor text. Use Angela's backlinks consistently and you'll get there, as long as you aren't trying to take down seriously competitive keywords.

And 'improve golf swing' isn't one of those. It does have some good competition, but the Top 10 can be conquered with a steady diet of backlinks from higher PR sites.

          Hi
In your site, keyword meta tag is missing.

          The syntax for this is:

          <meta name="keywords" content=" Place your keywords here" " />

I hope it will help you.

          Thanks

Thanks Zeus66. you even took the trouble to help me check for the keyword term. Looking forward to your backlinking service!

Thanks snvservices. For helping me to check on the site. I didn't know that was missing.

Thanks thanks. Just when it was getting tough to be building links for the site and got a bit more encouragement to get more done on the site. Thanks

Just as a point of clarification, a 'backlink' is a link pointing to your site from a different site.

A 'link' is a more generalized term, and includes internal links (from one page of a site to another page of the same site).
