Have you checked out sites like ClickBank to see if there are products on whatever topic you say that you are passionate about? I would say start there and just do some research to see if there is a market for your interests.

1) Filter for traffic volume

2) Filter for competition

3) Filter for social media / forum traffic bases

If your going to be blogging then it needs to be around something you have a passion for. If you end up writing for a niche you don't enjoy its going to feel like a job and honestly be hard to keep writing content for it.

When you pick something you love you almost never will run out of content to write about so that is your number one in my opinion.

Besides that you need to realize that not every niche is rich, meaning there are niches out there where people are just not geared to buy or to take action. Take that into consideration as well.

To begin with, it's important that you do your research and find some products you want to promote BEFORE you actually get your domain name. When it comes to finding a niche, start with your hobbies. Most people have at least one hobby that's in a profitable niche market. When you're new, it's also easier to connect with your audience and come up with written content (will also save you some money) if you promote some products you're already familiar with.

For instance, my first site was in the ?learn Spanish" niche. I chose this niche because I was a Spanish major in college. Aside from hobbies, you can use sites like Clickbank.com (for digital products) and Amazon.com to find niches. On Clickbank, you will see categories (markets broken down into niches) on the left side of the screen (may need to scroll). On Amazon, you can use the top magazine listings (mags. are broken down into niches).

After using the magazines, you can use something like the free Google keyword planner to break them down even more and get an idea of the size of a particular niche, based on the monthly searches. If I were you, I'd avoid the "make money online" niche until I'd some success outside of it. That way, you'll know what a legitimate program has to teach someone in order for them to succeed. I hope this helps some.

I realize, about blogs, that you neglect the "thing" to focus on the "how" (the theme, the web space, plugins, social networks) to find themselves competing with giants with staff and visibility immensely more bigger than us, struggling to get some comment on articles.
How do you choose a good argument?
I follow this track
Choose a general topic, a topic in which you're comfortable
Draws up a list of possible sub-niches internal to that topic
Some examples on refining a niche?
You can choose to use a particular point of view
You can refer only to a particular type of readers
You can devote to solve one and only one type of problem
You can only give visibility to an area less treated
You can use a particular format post to tell your story

The best way to find your niche is being able to list the things that you are passionate about. It is always easy for you to identify the niche from those listed things or activities you are interested in. The reason i am saying so is because when you identify the niche using this way, you will not struggle doing it.
It is always very difficult for you to invest in something that you don't like. Like I do web programming and development because it is my passion. I can code anytime without really being bored. There is just that unique feeling of doing that thing you like and passionate about it.

It is promote-able to unrestricted audiences. i.e. It's not porn or gambling, etc.

I'll tell you the SUPER EASY way to find a niche! It's sort of my little secret, that no one seems to think of. Go to your closet Barnes & Nobel (yes they thank god they still exist lol). Walk into the magazine section, and pick up any magazines that YOU are interested in. BAM! You've just found a niche (or two). See the thing about content marketing is that IT'S NOTHING NEW! The magazine industry is built on content marketing. They have already done all the hard demographic work to find EVERYTHING there is to know about their audience, and they create great niche specific content.

So what do you do now? Well you flip thru those magazine for inspiration. Something in bound to ignite a spark. This system never fails. You could serious build an entire blog out of a stack of magazines.

Think in terms of Questions, Problems and Desires within a market that you have an interest or ideally a strength in.

For example, instead of just a Health blog, you want to target a sub-segment such as Alternative health, diet/recipes, Exercise, etc...

Within these you will want to further dig into sub-sub-segments or niches that will then help you target specific affiliate offers.

To uncover affiliate products - do the following:

1. Look at top directories such as Amazon, Clickbank, Sharesale, Commission Junction, etc...
2. Google your niche, visit the top 2-3 pages of results and look for signs of affiliate products being offered on those authority sites - in most cases, they will not host affiliate products on these top sites that do not convert
3. Test - put together a sales funnel off of your blog, capture your prospect's email and mix in a few reviews of products, case studies, etc... to test different affiliate offers

If you're going to be blogging as a hobby or a past time, then "pick" whatever subject you like - it won't matter much because you decision is based on something that you have chosen to address.

However . . .

If your intent is to make money with your blog, there is a systematic and smart way to begin . . . and that is with your audience.

You want to identify a hungry and "rabid" group of people that are looking to satisfy a need, desire, or problem that they have. Why? Because that is how you are going to make money.

In order for you to profit online you need to sell something - correct?

When you are "picking a niche" you are going about this process without starting at the beginning. You are not paying attention to the audience. You are assuming that there are products out there that will sell - which may or may not be the case.

Start this journey by finding "demand" in the marketplace, i.e. people that are clamoring for some type of solution or desire. When you identify what that is, it makes marketing so much easier because you have identified the need, who your audience is, and now all you have to do is come up with the product or service that fills that need.

Remember, selling online is not about you. It's about finding a demand that's in the marketplace and selling your solution to fulfill that demand.

When I was a massive blogger I would look at competition blogs and see what they did to bring in money and earn a profit from their blog. I'd then go search those resources and use them as the base of my blog. IE. I'd look at mom saving sites and found that most of their affiliate promos are from shareasell .

If writing is a challenge for you create a video blog or do podcasting. If you don't like writing now then why start a blog that requires consistent writing?

I'll just usually go to Google Keyword planner and check up on some related KYs of Niches I understand and enjoy somewhat. And see if there are a good number of searches and whether the CPC is decently high to see if people are bidding on it.

Also go and put those KYs in google. And take a look at advertisers on far right for Adwords. See if there are pages and pages of people advertising with a lot of different companies.

Sometimes this is an indication that the KY and Niche are profitable with the competition.

Then go to ClickBank or CJ and see if there are appropriate aff. Programs for this Niche by putting topic in Search

The first thing is to Identify a gap which you can fill. Then write down the things that you are passionate about and filter them out according to which can best fill the gap. come up with a well written strategy that you will follow and concentrate on. Then start producing quality. If you are passionate in that field, I am very sure that you can never luck content to write. Make sure you promote your site greatly through social media and finally start enjoying the returns.CAUTION! Be patient

The niche should really be something you already know about (it doesn't have to be but better if you're doing the writing).

You should think about your visitors and think like them (which should be easy if you're active in the niche). What sort of things would you want to know and what questions would you want answering?

Make a list of things that come to mind then delete everything off the list that is easy to find out, because you want to answer the questions or solve the problems people can't find anywhere else to make your website or blog stand out.

If you want to have a blog that you enjoy updating then you need to look within and find a topic that won't be "a pain in the buttocks" for you to write about.

Finding things to promote is super easy and can check out clickbank to get started.

You should do some niche market research. Browse Amazon for ideas. Once you've found a niche and checked out the competition level, you should use a good keyword tool to see how many people are searching for information about your newly found niche. After that, it's time to market. Run a quick paid advertising test to see if anyone signs up to your free ebook (or whatever). If they do sign up, and you have backend products within the niche also... start selling.

You're plan on promoting it is the main concern. You can easily just hire a writer to write 100 articles and drip feed them on the site but how are you gonna get people on it, stay on it and make money?

You dont need to be interested in something to make money. That is horrible advice from everyone. Just hire a writer to write on topics. That should be the least of your concerns. Getting traffic to it should be your main priority. Do you plan on using SEO, paid marketing, just social???? Choose only 1.

I probably have 300 "blogs." Sometimes I update 50 of them in a day. It takes a lot of practice to be able to just spew out garbage as fast as you can and have it make sense. I suggest you google "web 2.0 sites" make a free mail.com email address (not at mail.com, pick one of their other domains) and sign up for 20 of them. Just practice writing 300-500 words about the first thing that comes to mind, if you get to 300 words and you can't say anything else, just conclude the post and move to the next blog. Just keep making email addresses and web 2.0 accounts, until you have about 300 of them (ideally all with 15+ posts on them.) Then just update as many as you can, don't try to make any money off them. Just post about anything. Then after about 3 months of doing this, pick a niche, start a REAL site (not a blog) and then build your web 2.0s into a massive private blog network.

If you want to do a long lasting website, where you see yourself writing for the next few years then I recommend for you to choose a topic that you enjoy. Otherwise, you won't be able to continue grinding post after post every single week. It will easily get boring and you'll probably quit.

However, if you are looking to make a small website with 20 or so pages then you may choose something you aren't a huge fan. At the same time, you shouldn't go for something very technical, which you don't have any knowledge at all. You'll waste a huge amount of time studying its content until you can write something. Or sure, you can pay something to write it for you.

The best niche is the niche that solves PROBLEMS! Health problems, beauty, divorce, hobbies (help users with buying decisions). Make sure the products in the niche ar priced at least 20 USD. Make the list of potential niches and:

a) Perform keyword research to find the niche with high search volume, low/medium competition and high CPC or well-priced affiliate offers

b) Make sure this niche has loyal fans on FB, G+ and/or Linkedin, so you can start building traffic from the day 1 without relying on SEO.

c) Make sure you will be able to produce quality content to engage users.

I had a dating advice site for Asians, and I was able to make more than 2000 USD/month without doing anything by just selling leads to date coaches and matchmakers on autopilot.

So be creative and support your decisions with the solid niche research!

For blogs, the main challenge is always getting quality content on at a constant interval. And like you mentioned, the best way is to write about something you love doing.

Besides finding related products on clickbank, another method for monetizing would be to engage yourself in PPC such as google adsense. This can be profitable as well when you have built a significant pool of subscribers.

Write down the things that you are passionate about. Then go search Facebook, the google search, google hot trends, and whatever magazines or online forums that are related to your niche. Once you find 2 that you like, are popular, and are evergreen, move on. Now go try and find products related to your niche using Amazon, Ebay, Facebook, Clickbank, CPA offers, etc.... Thank outside the box... But make sure you find a market, find a buyer audience, and find several products that you can market to your niche... Hope this helps...

Really simple formula.

1. Search for a huge problem, pain, or desire. (message boards, blogs, forums, face to face interviews)
2. Find a product that solves that itch (or make one if it doesn't exist)
3. Use PPC to market it (faster results than blogging)

Couldn't agree more with most You really need to have interest in the topic or subject and have a passion from it. I learned this myself. Built out a blog with content I put alot of upfront work into a blog once to just to let it collect dust because i really had no desire about the topic..

lots of ways to find your niche. write down a list of topics you would be interested in, get ideas from magazines, other blogs, facebook groups..etc you will have no real problem monitoring your blog. there are lots of ways from clickbank, cpa, adsense etc.

It pretty much goes back to you before it goes to the market, you cannot just pick a topic which is niche and start developing QUALITY content. Remember when it is niche it means your target audience is well informed or at least better than general public hence the content must be of value to them. There are three steps in going through a niche, Knowledge, Strategy and the Execution. Follow these three and make sure you have enough knowledge to proceed to strategy.

Whatever you do, don't do it on your passion. Do it on a wish list:

- What do people wish for? What do they want? ( I wish I was skinny. I wish I was rich.)
- Find the question they are asking the most.
- Build an answer for that question better than anyone else on the planet.
- Build your business around that answer.

Here's a wish I answered that makes a lot of loot.
- "I wish my feet didn't hurt" ( I heard that from a lady at a BBQ )
- I investigated and found lots of people had the same wish and they were all asking the same question.
- I'm in front of 800,000 + ladies answering that question on auto pilot.
- Gives me a little monthly WAM money.
- I'm not that bright, it's not that hard.
