Hi all, how do you collect and pay the EU VAT tax for any purchases you get from EU customers on your website?

Thanks,

I've chosen to sell using third parties who do all the record keeping and collect and pay all the tax for me (it would be a different scenario if I wanted to collect and pay my own EU VAT and keep my own records and I'm not too familiar with that).

So I use Udemy, Zenler and ClickBank for my video courses and membership site and I'm going to use Payhip for some of my PLR sales, although you can sell almost any downloadable file up to 1GB in size there.

Then I'll sell bigger PLR packs on JVZoo and block sales from any EU country other than my own ( the UK). If anyone in the EU and outside the UK wants to buy I'll either handle the sale manually - which is allowed under the EU rules - or if I get a lot I'll set it up on Payhip too.

I've got a YouTube video on how/why I switched from a WP plugin to Clickbank for my membership site, I'm not sure if it's OK to share the link here but if you Google 'clickbank vatmoss' you'll find it.

There are other EU VAT-friendly third parties, too. Just let me know if you need more.

Hi Helen... this is a point of discussion in "our" FB group but unless there have been modifications, I suspect we could fall foul to EU "discrimination" laws if we block sales to the rest of the EU?

You can sell to whoever you want to. Nobody can force you to sell something to somebody. Just say that you are only capable of dealing with British customers and you should be good to go.

Sure, you are deciding not to sell to people based upon their location, but that is fine. There is a genuine reason for it.

Hey guys. I'm looking to launch SEO and graphic design reselling services. I'm wondering if I need to charge VAT. I think these require more than minimal intervention, are not automatic, involve communicating with the customer in order to deliver the services. In other words, they cannot be delivered without my intervention thus are exempt from this law. Am I correct or not?
