Custom landing page necessity

People use multiple landing pages to test conversion rates. If you're spending money advertising you should be spending money testing multiple landing pages.

It doesn't have to be amazing, you can use something like leadpages to rapidly create and test multiple landing pages.

If your an affilate you should run multiple landing pages to capture the persons email, and because its required a lot of times by networks/ offer owners.

I always tell my students... never, ever send traffic directly to someone else's sales page.

Even if the conversion rate is great, you will only make the sale once and then you've lost that buyer (and those that don't buy) forever.

BUT, if you get them on your email list first... you can market to them again and again.

Generally, people use the landing page to capture an email address, which they can use to provide value and a range of affiliate offers over an extended period.

Well sending people directly to the landing page provided by the owner of the offer usually gets them the subscriber, so you wont be able to follow up them and aso you lose the chance to promote other offers to them.

If you create a different landing page you may get even better conversions for the offer, you should check if you can send the leads you get from your landing page directly to the offer instead to the owner landing page, most of the time you can do that.

Also having your own landing page differentiates you from the rest of affiliates that send people directly to the offer

I highly recommend you start building an email list right away. By doing so you are building a tangible asset, and of course you can set up an automated followup series to increase conversions to those who didn't buy when they first saw the offer... and continue to send related offers to them over time.

I use GetResponse for my autoresponder and ClickFunnels for building my landing pages, but you could check out Sendlane, which is an autoresponder but it includes a landing page builder, so that's all you'd need to start with.

I agree. Don't ever ever ever send people to the affiliate page first. Send them to your landing page where you can capture their email address first. Yes, that means coming up with a lead magnet and copy that will convert, but it needs to happen this way.

The question is, do you want to keep having to drive traffic to an affiliate offer, finding more and more traffic all the time to keep the income flowing? Or do you want to build an email list that will buy what you recommend over and over again - make money by clicking "send"? An email list is a business asset. It's extremely important you have one.

IMO, this is a mistake a lot of people getting into affiliate marketing do - not building a mailing list.

There is another side to this argument. The money isn't in the list, it's in the sale. You can have a gazillion emails in your list (an many do) and still come up empty.

I just saw a post in one of my groups where the member was saying they'd rather not have an email list. There's a whole lot of stuff going on with list building: Having a quality landing page, getting quality leads, writing compelling emails that aren't used by all the other affiliates promoting the same product.

To be honest, it can be very time consuming and, like everything else in online marketing that is advertised as 'easy as one, two three," not a whole lot of people can make a living at it.

Sure, you can master these things eventually and could luck with it. But it's not the only way to make money on the internet. There are a number of programs where the original sale leads to even more lucrative upsells.Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to drive traffic to your affiliate link and the guru who developed the funnel gets to keep the emails for when, some day, he or she moves on to another product.

For what it's worth, time permitting, I do some of both.

You need to use multiple landing pages to split test for best conversions.

And I disagree that landing pages come with additional costs. You just have to use the right software to clone the pages as many times as you like.

I just had some WSO guys install developer version of instabuilder on my website. I could clone a hundred landing pages with just 2 mouse clicks.

Since I promote a wide range of offers then how should I represent myself when I ask for the visitor email address? I'm not a website owner nor product owner, just an affiliate then why would they give me their email?

Tell them on the Landing page/Sq,Page that you have a very special discounted Limited Time Offer to a fantastic offer that can help them,.And then say something like

Just put together a lead magnet that relates to the offers and give it to them. You can do this by making a brief research on google, put together 2 of the best articles your found and BOOM! you have a great lead magnet.

1) You should always be building your own list in front of any offer. If your paying for traffic and not at least getting lead contact information and instead sending that directly to that company then man oh man that affiliate company is going to love you! Sign me up lol

2) Split testing is a must if you want to scale up, Split testing allows you to continue to improve your ad allowing you to covert at a higher rate. This allows you to sell more and make more money while spending the same amount of money on ads.

3) Your backends, some lead capture pages might look over complicated asking for more steps but I have actually found a 2 step optin to convert better and actually have a better response rate to buying the product at least in the niches I have tested so far.

A lead is great, a follow up backend is even greater!

It's all about Maximizing CONTROL over your traffic.

You can build a more effective page that captures more emails and converts more sales by paying attention to your traffic and conversion patterns.

A landing page needs a form to capture contact data for a website visitor. Everything that you guys are saying make sense but let's take a click bank offer for example, most of them contains a video on the landing page, how should my landing page look like? That video is probably the best way to sell the product.. and my landing page should be focusing on selling the product, capturing the visitor email or both?

You should focus on building a list of interested prospects in your niche.

Too many of you are still looking at it like direct sales.

Create an offer and follow up series that will get people to opt in to your list, and more importantly, open and respond to your follow up emails.

You can promote multiple different affiliate products over time. Take the time to set it up right, from the start. Most people try to promote when they have no sales funnel in place to drive prospects to.

For increased conversions... and for getting sales in the first place. Depending on what you're selling (in most cases), it's always best NOT to send a visitor directly to a sales page first. A better approach would be to lead to squeeze page first, then maybe an OTO, then follow up with them via email marketing.

Ok thanks guys so we discussed about promoting Click Bank offers CPA but what about CPI offers? when the payouts are much lower and you have to generate a high CR and a lot of volume to make it profitable.. would you still make an email list for CPI offers?

Some cool suggestions have been listed above. I want to add that you should make sure you include Google Analytic's UTM parameters. You can Google it for more info.
In short it's passing some parameters to the page e.g. ?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=tweet that way you'll know where the traffic is coming from.

When ever you send traffic directly to your sales page, you are leaving money on the table. People are people and most take for ever just to make a decision.

So just like someone said above, make sure that you have a 'lead capture' to start capturing leads. This will help you start building your email list.

But your lead capture page MUST be in 'Alignment' with your traffic and offer.

If your traffic, lead capture page and offer are not 'matching' with each other, your marketing campaigns will not work.

Now making good lead capture pages that will actually convert traffic into leads is another story.

Most new marketers wouldn't know where to start. There are systems like leadpages that can help you out but they cost around $37 per month.

Another option for new marketers to create a good lead capture pages are to hire someone who knows what they are doing to make one for you. But this option will require you to 'host' your own pages (if you aren't doing so yet).

Rather than helping others, it good practice to collect email for your own first. Then you can promote whatever suitable for the target audience. Yes landing page come with expenses, however it worth to do. Just Imagine whenever you want to promote affiliate offer, you need to start doing from zero and it cost also your time. If you have subscriber or customer email, you could save more time and money in future. There a lot theme/plugin that could help you to do that easily now and moreover you earn more later despite spending a lot now.

I'd still build an email list every day of the week

Then even more reason to collect emails and build a list. Then send them to multiple offers and that traffic is costing you nothing. After going through your presell page the CR should be higher. And you can still send them to more offers.

Thanks for the useful information guys, CPI (apps/games) is a field I'm interested in and I already made money from it by sending direct traffic to the offers. I want to build a list because you all recommend me to.
I always used to promote a wide range of offers, I just sent traffic and saw which campaigns are profitable for me.. so if I'm building a list I guess I need to focus on a certain apps niche? And how would you build the list in my case? What can I offer in exchange for the emails? Updates about the most hot apps/games? They can just open google play/app store for that.

Because when you send people to your own landing page and get them to opt in to *your* list then you are building *your* business.

Then you can develop a relationship and sell to them over and over.

If you just send people to a offer page then you have wasted your time and money because you will never see them again.
