Web Development and Design as Art....

I'm troubled Warriors.
Ive been looking for that one web development & designer person who can create this website I've been envisioning for several months now. I've been searching high and low on the Warrior forum and elsewhere. I've submitted to several outsourcing sites and none of the respondents seem to have the singular quality I'm searching for (Artistic Merit). We have some great designers here on the Warrior forum and I love one in particular like a son. He's genius at what he does but not at what I need. This person needs to have high level coding skills (Ruby, Ajax, CSS, HTML5, DB's) and an eye for usability, function, seo, branding and a deep knowledge of web development, color and design. Maybe such a person doesn't exist. If you know someone or are that person send me a PM. I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

    The only person that I've ever come across that was amazing at coding and design was Matt Inman ( Matthew Inman - Marketing & Design ).

    These types of people are few and far between. You either have someone who is an awesome designer or a coding genius, but never both. You're best bet is to find someone who can code the application (plenty of decent coders...not skills can be found easily) and find a design shop that you like and work with them.

    I typically will go to the CSS Galleries and check out designs. You usually get a lot of web designers submitting there personal websites there. Find one you like and start working with them.

    i know this might sound stupid.

    i have thought about your problem for 30 seconds and you for months.

    but cant you split up the tasks.
    outsource the artistic side to one or two people and then the seo and technical side to others?

    it sounds like the key here is you.
    it is in your head, and therefore you are the only one that can piece it all together.

    Sometimes it can take many months to find the right person for the job, especially through the outsourcing/freelancing route but if you persist and keep posting your amazingly well defined brief, you will find somebody. It took me many months to find writers who could produce the quality I was after.

      I believe I may be the person you are looking for. I agree, many developers can either design, or code, not both. Ive spent the last 9 years learning how to program, the rest comes naturally, in particular graphic design.
