Newbie-Again Needs Some Advice

Hi Warriors

I started back in 2010 and well, life happens, couldn't stick with the work, but I am back and determined. I was hoping for some advice.

1. How do I go about figuring a niche? Does it have to be something I know or be passionate about?

2. I noticed there was some fallout with clickbank about a new banner that they are forcing on vendors/affiliates. Are there any other sites/marketplaces like clickbank that are just as good?

3. Is list building / funnel still attainable?

    1) Passion in a market will definitely make your job more enjoyable, but a lot of marketers still dive into certain niches with not much passion. So you need to decide which route to take.


    2) There are lots of places besides CB, JZOO & CJ come to mind, there are a lot of threads on here about alternatives to CB.


    3) Marketing now a days I highly recommend a funnel. List building is still and will be in the future one of the best ways to market online!!

    Get going with passion, I agree with Shaun.

    It's one thing to try and just make money but that won't sustain your appetite.

    You will last longer by being involved with something that is of interest to you.

    That's what passion is!

    Then you have to flow with the rest of it.

    Not going to repeat what Shaun has said.

    It takes some figuring out but you can find out how to do just about anything on google.

    The biggest investment you may have to make is in a coach.

    Find a trusted and affordable coach that is specific to Internet Marketing.

    You can apply it then to any niche.

    Passion is great but it's tough to eat.

    Regarding niche, start with your passions and create a list of 10 ideas. Qualify these ideas using a set of criteria and ensure the audience is still large enough and hungry enough to generate an income.

    Finally, complete a passion check to ensure this is definitely a topic you definitely want to build a business around and use online marketplaces such as Udemy, Clickbank and Kindle to be sure the audience are willing to buy products to solve their problems.

    First, welcome back, and hope you stick to it until you make it this time.

    1) There are many ways you can figure out a niche. For example you could just go to the Clickbank marketplace and check out all the categories/niches (and sub-categories) and try to decide which one is right for you.

    It's usually recommended to choose a niche that you are passionate about, but I would say that will depend on your objectives and the marketing strategies you will be using. For example, if you will be blogging then it would definitely be a better idea to choose a passionate niche, otherwise you might get discouraged by not knowing what to write about or how to do so.

    2) I consider Clickbank to still be the best non IM(internet marketing)-related marketplace, I don't currently have a good alternative in mind. However if you will be involved in the IM niche, then no worries! JVZoo and WarriorPlus will be perfect for you.

    3) List building is probably the oldest IM strategy that has yet to become ineffective. I suppose that it will be just as vital in the next 10 years as it was in the previous 10 ones.

    yes i prefer doing something that am passionate about because you enjoy the work and produce quality results. But it is not a must that you engage in your area of passion, you might find that what you are passionate about doesn't convert to money well and so you need to think of something better. just try and locate a need in the society and modify ways to satisfy that need, you will learn in the process and probably get passionate

    Welcome back to the forum,

    1.) When choosing a niche, it really helps if it's something you're at least interested in. This way you can do your own research, write your own content, and not have to outsource everything. But I have to agree with Brent - that money making potential is much more important than "passion". Have you checked out the nichehacks site? You might get some good ideas there.

    2.) Nothing really to add here - some great advice has already been given.

    3.) Yes, you should absolutely build a list. Be sure to form a relationship with them. When you write your emails, talk to them in a very down-to-earth "me to you" sort of way. Also, your content should be something like 80% informative/helpful - 20% related offers they can purchase.

    Doesn't have to be, but would be nice. You would already know the pains and goals of the people in the niche that you're passionate about.

    Hi Jon,

    You got some good tips above. Here is something to really think about...

    Take the [Get Money] out of the equation for now and focus more on acquiring the skill sets like:

    1- Traffic Generation:

    They guy or gal who 'masters' traffic creation always has a steady of supply of 'potential' customers. If your traffic dries up, your business is dead in the water.

    Pick (1) Method of generating traffic that you think you can do, learn it and master it.

    'Targeted' Traffic is a must! Make sure that you are creating traffic that is a match for your offer.

    2- Landing Pages and Lead Capture Pages:

    If you have good landing pages and lead capture pages, then generating leads will happen on their own as a result of driving the right traffic that is 'targeted' to your offer.

    3- List Building Skills:

    Build a good relationship that is 'in service' to your subscribers. Having a list of potential customers will always be relevant online.

    Marketers who only focus on traffic and quick sales but who don't collect leads are leaving money on the table.

    Having a list is a tool of 'communication' with your leads and another way to create 'residual' traffic to your offers.

    Conclusion:

    Some people are too focused on making money right now without developing the skills needed. If anyone needs money right now, then a job would be the best fit to supply you with money to pay your bills.

    Always have an income to 'leverage' while building your IM Business.

    In answer to no. 3...

    ...yes, list building is still effective, but you don't want to just limit it to email subscribers.

    Build a following everywhere and anywhere that is applicable for your niche and the way you market, e.g.

    Youtube subscribers
    Facebook fans
    Pinterest followers
    Podcasting
    SMS
    Mobile apps

    And so on.

    Determination is one of the crucial factor in order to achieve any goals... stick to it until you see results.

    You should choose a niche that you're passionate about and at the same time can generate cash for you + your family.

    You can venture into jvzoo besides cb.

    List building is on of your major online asset. Should start building it ASAP.
