ping crawl and link crawl woes, any advice please

Hello

I am finding ping crawl is causing problems with wp robot and also autoblogged

I am finding that it seems to stop retrieval of feeds or really slows down the feed collection.

It also does not seem to have any filtering, so a blog post about a bearded shrub comes out with related posts about salma hayek being a bearded vampire in a new film ......

link crawl just does not work correctly either

does anyone know any way of taming these plugins or can anyone recommend better plugins that do the same kind of things with related posts?
