The BIGGEST breakthrough...

Hey guys,

I just wanted to share this story with you... especially for anyone either just starting out or has been doing this for some time, and haven't received the success they've wanted...

I have had my FIRST major breakthrough in my IM career this past week... and I have been doing this since 2008!

Yes, that's right, I have been at this thing for going on 8 years now, and I've JUST had my major breakthrough...

But, before I get into that, please allow me to explain how I've got here real quick...

First off, I'm guilty as the next guy trying to earn a living online, and jumping on all the next best methods, tools, etc.

But, after years of doing this, I have gotten wiser and began to adopt a simple mentality of "think hard before doing". Once I adopted this mentality, I stopped jumping on every new thing that came out without thinking.

Now, I make cautious educated decisions before making investments... and most of my investments these days are tools to help me grow... NOT another "how I got rich from XYZ product".

But, I still didn't reach any level of success worth being proud of... and that's because of one embarrassing flaw...

Laziness.

I "thought" I was taking action by going on some webinar, or reading some guide, or writing a quick article, or making a quick video, etc. But I never stayed consistent, I didn't do careful research, and more critically, I thought just working a couple of hours a day was enough.

That age old saying of "you get what you put in" was very prevalent in my life!

Now onto the breakthrough...

I was approached with an opportunity a couple of months ago by a prolific internet marketer to partner up with a product. With this product, my job was to create the product, his job was to promote it.

Once the product launched, it went okay, not great, but okay...

But that's not the breakthrough...

So I can keep up with what was going on with sales, customer service requests, etc., I forwarded emails from my Paypal email address to a Gmail account. I then made sure the Google Chrome app "Checker Plus for Gmail" was active. This app sends a notification to your desktop along with a beeping sound every time you get an email. I also activated a Gmail app on my iPhone.

Once the product launched, I received a constant flow of notifications to my Gmail account and iPhone...

I of course felt great this was happening, but that WAS NOT THE BREAKTHROUGH...

The breakthrough occurred when those notifications slowed down... DRAMATICALLY!

Something came over me that has never happened once this occurred...

I panicked... I became obsessed with finding out why it slowed down...

And then I noticed something...

I noticed a change in me...

I became obsessed...

Obsessed with getting those notifications showing up again...

Next thing you know, I'm working harder than I EVER have!

I've created 2 sales pages, an affiliate page, came up with a new product idea, hired a writer for to assist with the new product, rewrote an old sales page, and more! And this was just in the past THREE DAYS!

For some of you successful veterans, this level of work is second nature to you, but for me, and I'm sure many others, this is something that was just not in us.

My mindset has been shifted.

I have been putting in EXTREME action in order to get those Paypal notifications popping back up, and for some reason, I'm not getting burned out?!

The moral of this story is to find your motivation... through action. In other words, take action, even it is small. Something may occur through or from your course of action that motivates you, inspires you, and gets you ADDICTED! Once you discover it, keep feeding the addiction until you reach your goals.

I have not reached my goals... yet. But, honestly, the fact that I have had a DRAMATIC shift in work ethic, that is enough to keep my motivated. And that's because, hard work will always pay off... it may be sooner... it may be later... but it will always pay off.

Good luck, stay focused, and stay positive.

AJ

Yep, I can relate. This happened to me about 4 years ago. And since then, I'd never wanted to stop receiving all those $9,700 checks I get from doing custom DFY marketing funnels.

Excellent comment and a great post.

I should add that one must stay focused in each project started and stay away from jumping form one project to other without finishing the first one.

It's easy to lose focus if you start chasing many things at the same time.

So you are working full time now?

In fact now I live with my saving.
IM earnings got still can pay my bill but sadly can't give extra to parents.

this is what motivate me ....till I reach an ideal amount.

Yes IM is hard...not easy. Just like working 8 to 5 job.

Even on weekend, I still doing the same ...spend the same amount of time almost whole day in front of my com.

congrats! yes, we can be our own worst enemies. Laziness, negative self talk, etc. can shut us down before we get started. But once we recognize this and do the opposite, great things happen.

I've been guilty of shutting myself down many times, but now I can catch it happening and say, nope! If i can kick butt for my clients or bosses, I can kick even more butt for myself. Same goes for everyone here

OMG! So the secret to success is hard work!?! Who knew?

Seriously, you have, indeed, struck upon the true "secret" to success. But you'll go broke trying to sell that secret. There's not much market for it. ;-)

Congrats, AJ. But I think those who focus only on the "hard work" part of your post are missing the whole picture. It's really about getting the motivation and the inspiration to throw yourself into your project in the first place. And your story contains the answer - you just did something.

It might sound counterintuitive, but instead of waiting for the motivation to arrive before you start something, often it's simply the starting of something that provides the motivation. Once you get going, you'll find the inspiration to continue apace.

Nobody reaches success by walking along the same line and path. Whatever it takes for you to find and reach your success, DO IT. It doesn't matter if it sounds unconventional, or falls in the face of what gurus have taught for decades. Do the things you need to do to stay motivated, and in due time, your financial and time reward will await you.

    GOOD LUCK!

4 days after I made the initial post, I started working on creating 2 products (just about done one), refined 2 other products, created a new website, started creating another website, learned how to... and then created some graphic design work for upcoming products, searched for and hired some outsourced work, and still managed to spend quality time with the family during the holidays.

As I said in the original post, find something that makes you HOOKED, and keep going. My "addiction" is seeing those Paypal instant notification emails popup with chromes gmail notification plugin. That addiction lit a fire under me I've never felt before... I just wished it happened a long time ago.

That's the beauty of the creative process.

Where designed to work out when we have some
        skin in the game.

God worked...hard...to bring this world we exist in
to reality for us. And his hard work for 6 days is a
direct reflection of why we don't feel 'complete' if
we sit idle, lazy or aloof.

The same spark God had to create the earth, and us
for that matter, is the same creative spark we have
        to build, produce and create.

I get bored when I'm not being productive, coming
up with new ideas, using my brain and/or hands to
create and build something new. I become apathetic.

But when it's something you WANT to do, you get
        motivated.

Imagine if God stopped the creation process just
        short of 6 days?

He'd feel motivated to finish what he started because
he see's and enjoys the results 'so far'.

Thus, it's hard to stop doing something you see the
results from and become discouraged. This is why
you still see so many, "I had my first sale" posts.

It's a huge deal because it's the bit of leverage we
need to stay motivated to continue in spite of the
obstacles that are sure to come our way as we move
        forward.

I'm glad you found the secret to success.

Few do. But it wouldn't be success if a little elbow
grease wasn't involved to get the ball moving.

        Have fun!
