Many outages with Bluehost VPS - Any alternatives?

Hi warriors

I am hosting my application with Bluehost VPS. Though I am happy with there service most of the time, uptime is very important for me.

Over the past month Bluehost had at least 2 outages of several hours each. Most monitoring sites says that it is up 99.85% of the time. Right now I believe that I need more.

Anyone can recommend a hosting service that has a better uptime track record? Affordable price, Linux OS, backup and all the other features of course.

Any recommendation would be appreciated
Thanks

Hoststage and poweruphosting is the best VPS I have used. Try them out. Before that, search for discount coupon!

Surprised no one has piped up with HostGator yet lol. Threads like this one seem to pop up from time to time with all the HG promoters posting. But on a side note, I think HostGator and BlueHost are owned by the same people lol.

Softlayer is good alternative. But since IBM acquired them, sometimes I hate their customer service. They used to have very very great service. Overall, I can still recommend them. Or the best is Rackspace, but very costly.

I can vouch for A Small Orange Hosting which I have been using for the past 2 years. I always switch to a new host during black friday deals but this is the first time that I'm staying with the same host.

They are offering a huge discount today 75% OFF, do check out.

The downtime is way better when compared to bluehost. Hostgator and other cheap hosts won't be even in comparison.

Liquid web is still one of the favorites for reliable web hosting from many seasoned pros. But, I also like media temple, they've always been one of my favorites.

Make sure you research on the other "brands" also owned by the same parent company.

In regards to the VPS, can you list the specs you're looking for?

Sorry for the late reply. Bluehost is down. Again. Very frustrating.

    My server setup is:
    3GB RAM
3 cores CPU (not sure exactly what that means, but this is how they call it).
    Cent OS with cPanel
    Bandwidth - unlimited? (1T /month? not sure)
Storage - 120GB (from which 30GB dedicated for backup).
emails - I am currently sending around 5000/day
    backups - daily
    terminal access
    I pay around 90$/month.

I use Ramnode unmanaged VPS which i manage myself. It is very cheap but then again it is unmanaged. You will need to take your own backups. and more importantly you will need to manage the server yourself.

You know what, after such a long time bouncing back and forth between 4 different hosting company's over the years, I'm of the opinion that all the major ones are pretty much the same in terms of reliability. I don't have the exact stats to back up this claim but it's what I've observed.

I also believe that the major hosting companies who serves most of the usual websites, wordpress and blogs, are satisfied with 99.9% uptime more or less.
My application is a little more delicate, so I am looking for a hosting that can offer more stability, even if it means that it is more expensive.

Good VPS alternatives are a2hosting.com and hostsailor.com.
Prices are competitive and support is helpful for 24 hours. Servers work with no glitches.

Hi Brother i am not affiliated to BlueHost by any means as i dont use them

Ok if there are outages of ant kind ,you have 2 options

Either you can move to a different hosting ,Or secondaly i know they woyuld be down for a few hrs,

What you can do is ,Although there was an outage ,but i am still staying with you guys and i m still staying with you guys ,Provided you give an entire hosting for free..Check waht they have to say

And if it is that frequent change the hosting company

Its upto you to be honest ,I dont like changing things that often
