I noticed this the other day. 14% of searchers click on Adwords ads when doing a search. This should increase the number slightly.

I have a 1600x900 widescreen and it places the ads at just barely right of center. The author of that article is right, it really draws the eyes, even to someone as ad-blind as we all are. For Joe Internet I could see this move raising the CTR more than a couple of points. |

This is great news... Doing this with blog ads and banners when it is feasible to do so increases my CTR, so I would think it will go the same way here.. w00t! ![]() Peace Jay |

I dont like it, not at all. How is this beneficial to the end user in any way? To me this is nothing more than an adwords revenue raiser. You watch, it wont be long til they stuff two columns of ads in there to fill the white space. |

seems to me, that this would put the ads closer to eyeballs of visitors, resulting in a few more clicks

Its great news for everyone who uses PPC however us organic SEO's well we are being done over even more. Google is becoming even more greedy in these harsh times, first weakening its role in providing affiliate marketers the oppurtunity to use PPC and then going ahead and weakening the benefits of SEO and organic traffic results. I think Google is aiming to get more multi-national corporations or at least large scale business enterprises interested in online marketing and more to the point, Google Adwords, it means big bucks for Google especially with increased results. What happened to Google focusing all its attention on user related results, I think they have been hypnotised by the power of money...naughty. |

BUT.. With Google consistently forcing PPC advertisers to adhere to tight rules and regulations with their ads and content... the paid ads that Google shows are maybe more beneficial to the end user than some manipulated organic result? Maybe, by showing the end user more noticeable paid ads, Google can actually direct them to sources of information/products that are closer to what they actually need. I'm not saying this is definitely true, just thinking out loud on this... I only just noticed it myself.. Peace Jay

I am not saying this is a bad thing, its a good way of making more money, however they should focus more on getting rid of all the junk/spam websites in the organic results which in turn would mean these sites would then not be able to do anything and would disappear. Agh, I don't know Google is a confusing company.... Hmm just thought I would search for Google's mission statement and this came up; Corporate Information - Company Overview It seems a little outdated now, especially this part "Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." hasn't this been accomplished? Time for a new mission statement Google, what about... "Google's mission is to take over the world using the power of the Internet" It seems more relevant, Google OS, Googe Web Browser, Google Search Engine, Youtube, Google Toolbar, Google Maps, Google Earth, Gmail thats just of the top of my head.
