Article Marketing Versus CPA, Why I Chose Article Marketing

I am taking a break from my business because I desperately need to right now. I was just thinking about something. I have learned so much about article marketing from this forum. I would say I have it down pretty good. The only thing I hate is how time consuming it is, so I looked into some cpa on the wso forum. I found so many books and read so many, but after some long consideration I decided to stick with my article marketing. When I looked at cpa I really did not feel like I was building a real business, but building someone else's business. With article marketing I can build a list that I can continually market to long term. With cpa I am sending leads to someone else to make the real bulk of the money. With article marketing I purchase mmr products or outsource the creation of my own products and make 50-100 per sale. It may be harder but it is worth it. What do you guys think? Which do you believe to be the better long standing business module? CPA or Article Marketing. Just writing because it has been bothering me all day is all.

How about you use article marketing to promote cpa offers?

What does the fact that its a CPA offer have to do with your article marketing? You should be able to promote it the same way if it is the correct product.

sounds easy when you put it like that, but using article marketing to promote cpa would be tough for me. I am accustomed to getting names and then marketing to the list over time. It would be hard for me use cpa in the same way that I am using article marketing to market affiliate products.

          I hear ya pheonix

If your building a list and pushing the wrong types of cpa offers, they wont trust you for long...

Article ----> cpa = short term (in my opinion)

If you want a long term business, focus on building relationships with your list and creating value

This is what I am talking about. I was reading a book on cpa yesterday and I was thinking if I promote cpa offers with the same tactics my list will tire of me. With regular products I can adjust myself and promote products for the niche according to what they need at the time. With cpa I feel I can't do this.

    Two different animals.
CPA is product or service you choose to 'sell'
Articles are a method used to sell a product or service.

    Hi Phoenix

There's no reason why you can't use article marketing to send any offer to your subscribers and build your list at the same time. You could send them CPA offers, affiliate offers, your own product offers or resell rights product offers.

I agree that you want to give good service to your subscribers but that doesn't prevent you from offering any of the above provided they are a fit for your customers' desires at the time.

As long as you are providing them value!

Neither are business models. Also some people use article marketing to send traffic to their CPA offers. Cost Per Acquistion offers are either a way of obtaining leads or earning commissions / revenue, depending on which side of the CPA model you are at. Now owning your own CPA network....now THAT's a business model.

I don't see how, the cpa companies get paid by the advertisers. If the offers do not convert their business suffers. Those companies do not pay them for nothing. With article marketing you can carve out your niche and ultimately scale up the work by going to ppc, offline advertising, or several other paid methods to get things moving faster. Once you have reached a high level you can sell them off if you choose for a huge profit.

    Robin,

I think you're on the correct path. Keep building that list. Maintain high quality in every offer you send to your list members. Never compromise on that. Give advice that you know works. Take suggestions from list members about what they would like you to cover in future emails. Be interactive. You'll have a monster list full of people eager for your next contact with them.

Do you give something away on the landing page you're using article marketing to drive traffic to? Is that how you get new subscribers?

That is exactly what I do. When I first started I would call it an e-book, but I have found that it is better to call it a step by step guide or action plan. This way it is something that can actually help them now. My number one goal is to get that e-mail address. I market to them over a series of three to five days before I try to sell them on a product and I go for products where I get at least a 50.00 commission. If I cannot find it I buy a mmr rights product or outsource to have one made. It is a pretty good strategy. With cpa I don't see how I can do this.

With marketing, there always seems to be a trade-off.

If we follow one strategy, we'll reap the advantages of that but we'll probably have to let go of something else.

For instance, with affiliate marketing, we do the promotion, but we don't have to create the product or do customer service.

These days, there seems to be a blend with affiliate marketing and customer service, because affiliates are becoming product reviewers, so they have to have the responsibility to sometimes respond to 'their' customers.

With CPA marketing, you're either getting the leads or giving the leads to the merchant.

If you're the affiliate, you don't have to develop the backend, do the customer support, or ship any products.

Most of the successful marketers I know though, do both. They're the affiliate and the product merchant.

They're like a chameleon, constantly doing different things on different days.

Sometimes it's not affiliate marketing or something else. It's doing one or the other at the right time in the right situation.

If you see two groups arguing, discussing or pouring out about a tactic, strategy or even marketing 'rules', the truth is probably somewhere in between or in both places at the same time

Just like employing different strategies at the right time in the battlefield. The marketer with more options and the ability to see both sides usually wins.

There is no one 'best way'.
