Could someone kind help me with this please ?

Hello everyone, I am new to internet marketing, and I was wondering what was the difference between acquiring email addresses as a mailing list, and having your followers email you directly ?

For exmaple, with services like aweber, you can collect emails from sign ups, but what if you tell them to send you an email directly. How does that work ?

Also, how does the filtering process work in terms of not having their emails flood your inbox? Along with other things like branching out (monetizing) your list into different interests?

Well with using Aweber when you collect emails or leads and send an email message to your list they are given an option at the bottom of your email to stop receiving emails from you or opt out and Awebers system will automatically delete that persons email from your list, so as to not send them an email again which then would be considered spam, whereas if you have people email you directly you will have to manually delete any emails from your list from anyone who emails you and says to take them off your list and it can become a real pain once you have hundreds of names on your list, so using the service of Aweber to handle all the sending of your emails and dealing with opt out request is just much better and less stressful and professional in general. I hope this answers your question and helps.

    All the best,

    Martin

Thanks Martin for your reply, it was very informative. But what if you were hosting a live webinar and you were telling people to send an email to "johndoe@gmail.com" if you agree. Is there a way where you can add those people to your mailing list or no ?

Yes, search online for auto responder service it will allow people to send you an email to an email you set up with the auto responder and it will automatically email them back a reply message that you have pre-written. Also you can do the same thing to a point with an away message on your normal email account service and this option is free, so I hope this helps.

Also try infusionsoft. It has the ability to add people who email you to a particular list of your choice.

pretty much any email list will let you add names to it (the people who email you directly). It's a good way to grow your list.

Welcome to internet marketing.. you've seen the light!

Your email list is what's known as "permission marketing", where you build your list with a service like AWeber, and you generate leads through value-based offers, hence becoming a part of your list.

Instead of relying on people to reach out to you, what you can do is follow-up with them every single day, by providing value like a blog post or something, to stay in their radar and have them know, like & trust you. It builds that relationship with your leads.

Each list should be for one niche or interest, so that everything stays congruent with why they are there to begin with. You monetize your list by putting links in your email to webinar invites, blog posts (that have an offer within them), all kinds of stuff .

    Hope that was helpful.

      Martin had some good advice.

Also, something that struck me a little odd ( and this has nothing to do with Thread topic) is your Username.

Eventually ( probably best right now) is to change it to something that will be more advantageous for you in the long run.

It is good that you come in here as a Newbie and ask questions. But someday , hopefully, you will not be a newbie.

And your current Username will not be relevant.

You should get them to sign up for your email list bit you can add them individually on the dashboard in your case of aweber's.
