Can You Recommend an Excellent Outsourcing "Crash Course"?

I'd like to find a crash course that really delivers:

  • Real-world how-to info
  • The actual what-you-need-to-know inside scoop to outsource effectively.
  • What you need to watch out for realities.
  • Proven practical strategies on effective outsourcing.
Do you know anything that fits that?

Initially the tasks I need done would be outsourcing for web design, and routine "grunt-work" of SEO-related activities (link building, etc.)...

........But I'd expect a very good guide to effective outsourcing to not just cover those specific tasks, but the larger issues of finding, paying, managing good outsourcers.

I appreciate any info you have on where to get an outsourcing crash course....

      Jag, The WSO you listed eventually goes to a site that wants to charge you $97 a month, I have heard it is good for a month, not much more.

      I checked the teleseminar they give, its ok, never signed up for the full thing though.

        @Mav - I've heard that teleseminar too and found it underwhelming as well. He sells the "full" teleseminar for $97 and I'm not convinced it'll give me much more than a great pitch for his $97/month membership program which seems very overpriced to me - and it occurs to me that there is a disincentive on his part to give out all the good info up front, the incentive is to kee you on.

        That said, I do have participated in membership sites that delivered terrific value and content, but were half the price.

        Thanks for echoing my take on that, your feedback is valuable to me...

        Not even that... It sounds good, but that´s all (in my experience).

        I have a big team and have been outsourcing for years...

        The thing is: you can´t be successful if you don´t outsource, plain and simple.

        But...

        I can tell you that ALL the "outsourcing courses" out there are mostly cr**...

        Filippinos are overestimated... a lot.

        They are sold as the panacea... but they are not.


        Let me give you a Real "Outsourcing Course"... and for free:

        a. The main thing you need is just to know what you need to be done (that is, have a real Business Plan, totally mindmapped).

        b. Then, after that (and ONLY after that), you go to Odesk (or Guru.com), and post a project detailing ALL the skills your VA or worker has to be.

        Something like this:

        1. Decide WHAT SKILLS YOU WANT FROM YOUR VA.

        2. Write a TARGETED TITLE

        3. Post project on Odesk (or Guru).


        Example:


        Title: Full-Time SEO Writer + VA Needed ($375/month - Long Term)


        Hello,

        I (or We) need a Full-Time Virtual Assistant with these skills and experience:

        - Article Writing

        - SEO

        - Keyword Research

        - Blogging

        - HTML, PHP, Cpanel, MySQL

        - Project Management

        - Time Management

        - High Quality English Level

        - High Speed Writing

        - Perfect English Grammar + Spelling


        etc
        etc
        etc

        ...


        That´s pretty much it...


        In less than 2 hours you will have 15 to 30 good applicants.

        Go through their ODesk Profiles, Resumes, and Reviews and Feedback.

        Choose the best 3 - 5, and send them a review-task to complete.

        Choose the Winner for a 30-day trial, but keep the records and emails of the other ones, because anybody can fail, or something that can go wrong.


        . Then, once hired, make them sign a Contract with Non-Compete, Non-Disclosure and Work-Made-For-Hire Agreements.

        . And after that, setup a daily plan of action to IMPLEMENT YOUR BUSINESS PLAN, focusing in the actions you enjoy the most (strategic ones, better), and send the rest to your VA.


        ...


        Of course, there is more... but this is way direct and better than those $97-$497(!) "courses"...

    I've got an entire virtual team working with me now and I've even gone to the trouble of going to India to open my own office, so I know a thing or two.

      Thanks to all who've replied so far, I really appreciate it... I will look at each and every one of the recommendations you've made, thanks!

      BTW: I'm a "steps and procedures" kind of person in that I'm looking for the actual what to do practical info.

      In other words, I'm already convinced that outsourcing is smart and even necessary, so I'm not looking for any fluff or "you gotta outsource and here's why" filler material, just the bottom line practicalities.

      Thanks for letting me clarify.

      Also, I've heard in my just-begun investigations that Filipino workers are preferred over other countries, any experience in this anyone?

    there is a thread in the products review forum on replaceyourself.com that may be helpful. It seems a lot of warriors are using this or have at least signed up for a month for the knowledge. I am considering it when I have time.

    I also just signed up for a phillipines monthly membership service where you can outsource a ton of stuff based on a point system (lexorsoft.com). I'm going to give that at least a month to see what kind of value I get out of it. The only downside is that you can't really customize tasks too much or set deadlines.

      I just want to correct lexorsoft.com is not the membership site, it's per work basis, the membership site of the company is Lexorsoft.net - Link Building Services - Outsourcing Solution, both lexorsoft.com and lexorsoft.net is owned by the same company base in the Philippines.

          So you have purchased this? What quality is the training and videos? What subjects does it cover and is it current (current state of bestjobs.ph, etc.). Looks like the site has only been up since June... does this guy have any free content around?

    David, as far as countries are concerned, it really depends on who you hire. I've had some really good and really bad experiences from every nationality. One thing I have noticed though is that people from Asia tend to need more detailed instructions. Whereas people from the US/Europe etc just need to be told what to do, they figure out how to do it.

      I totally agree with you documaker, well said.

      Many outsourcer don't really know what they are doing, this is the reason many end up failures. Sometimes they are blaming the outsourcing company or provider.

      I suggest that before you go to outsourcing service, you should have your plan.

      Outsourcing is something like you're still doing the job or task but pass it on to other people the leg works, but still you're the one behind all those task.

    In the webinar, Jeff talks about how many of us internet
    marketers are like circus performers, trying to keep a dozen
    plates spinning at once. He likens outsourcing to getting just
    ONE plate spinning, handing that plate off to someone else to
    keep spinning, and then moving on to the next plate spinning
    project.

    I like that analogy because for many of us, the key to
    knowing that the outsourcing is being done right, is giving
    the person/company outsourced to our system for how we
    want it done.

    Outsourcing frees up so much time that you'll kick yourself
    when you finally start doing it.
