Do you need a website for Commission Junction?

I'm wanting to promote jewelry on my pinterest account, but when I'm getting the affiliate link it seems to require a website, and I have none, so I just put pinterest.com.. And I sent ome traffic to my link and the report section still says 0 visits?

So do you need a website in order to get credited?

So what do you do if your plan is to direct link straight to the affiliate site?

Not when it goes to the main page of an e-commerce shop for jewelry,

You telling me you have to pre-sell jewelry too?

Why don't you just give them the link for your e commerce webpage then?

It's not my e-commerce page it's an affiliate program for one.

    Several things:

    1. You should have at least one website on your CJ account. If you are not going to advertise through your website, you are supposed to sign up for what they designate as a "special" account that requires manual approval.

    2. The individual advertiser determines whether you can use social media for advertising. Did you check their terms?

    3. Pinterest does not allow affiliate links so you shouldn't be direct linking there.

    4. Statistics for all advertisers are not in real-time.

    5. If you have tested your links and made certain you copied them correctly and allowed some time for the clicks to show up in stats, you should contact CJ if your links appear not to be tracking correctly.

    6. If you think you are not getting credited for sales you should contact the advertiser directly to determine the reason.

So, if I can't direct link to an affiliate e-commerce store, how do I do it?

If I were to create a website, how would it work? Would I list all the products from the vendors site on my own, and direct the visitor to their site when they click on the item?

yes you need a site. @Karmadog you can set up a site however you want, you can list and link all products but you need to get approval for each one first so you need to start with a site that the product would fit on first. You might want to start with a review site where you review products then try to get an approval for it. After you got a few approvals then you can start doing comparison reviews.

How about affiliate stores where the customer clicks on an item and they are taken to the actual site where it's being sold?

Yes you need a site and not just a site, it must be clean, legal, with authority, and quite related to the product you want to promote.
