So I've got a product launch slated for this autumn, and I'm planning everything out. And there are a few things that came to mind.

First, when you want a high price point, you have to deliver on the value. So you want physical product; actual books, real physical CDs and DVDs, all of that. You want bunches of stuff in a box that goes THUD on the porch when the mailman brings it.

But there's another demographic out there.

I love boxes that go THUD on my porch; honestly, I do. But I hate waiting for them, and I hate having to unwrap everything, and I hate having to listen to CDs and watch DVDs for the information. What I really want, more than a box that goes THUD, is everything stripped down.

I don't need all the basic newbie stuff like what PPC and CPA stand for, or why direct sales copy is important. I want the meat. I want the stripped-down bare-bones nitty-gritty of the product as quickly as possible, in the most condensed format.

So has anyone out there tried upselling a more expensive version of the product that cuts out all the fluff, strips back to the most critical data, and delivers that immediately - via streamlined PDF - before the big box even ships?

Why not combine the best of both and include free fed ex overnight early AM delivery? You'd get the thud, and wouldn't have to wait.

Reducing delivery time isn't really what I'm after. I'm specifically wondering if the summary PDF can be used as an upsell, and how well that works.
