Hello,
I have a main web1 and I purchased web2 and web3 which both rank nicely in google.
What is the best way to redirect traffic from web2 and web3 without affecting their rankings?
Thank you

    These are common redirects..

    1. 301 redirect is permanent redirect, favored by Google. In this case all link juice, will be transfered to new domain.

    2. 302 redirect is temporary redirect. Link juice will not be transfered as it is temporary, so ranking will be remain same.

Please go through google search for other options or get some suggestions for plugins or script for this purpose.

Google (via Matt Cutts) says that when they encounter a 301 redirect, and the content at the new URL is similar to the content at the old URL, they will allocate the old URL ranking signals to the new URL.

So, it depends on the simmilarity. If the content of these websites are different, then you will start loosing organic traffic and ratings.

I am in the process of doing this. The websites are similar so in my case doesn't really matter. But if the domain is moved without the content how does Google know if they are similar.

Always make sure you use 301. Use your .htaccess file.

If you remove a page from your site make sure you redirect it to another page as well.
