Do a lot of reading of good writing. Go to successful Blogs and observe what they are doing. Go to places like Content Marketing Solutions from Copyblogger and absorb.

Practice, practice, practice and hone your craft

Exactly as Rob says, study good copywriters, ones whose writing you like, then practice, practice, practice.

        I'd give up.

        Seriously.

Blogs feature writing. If you are going to have a successful blog, then it follows that you need to be a successful (i.e. talented) writer in the first place. The one exception to this rule is if you put out spectacular content that is not dependent on the written word, such as PPC case studies or cooking videos.

Instead, you should consider what talents you do have. Then perhaps look to partner up with other people whose talents complement your own.

There are millions of blogs who outsource all of their content creation, including writing. Nothing wrong with that. This happens in all kinds of industries both offline and online.

For example, most people flipping real estate do not fix up the properties they buy. The use sub contractors.

Bloggers in micro niches make money all day long by hiring a specialty writer. For example, let's say I wanted to start a blog on addiction treatment because I know there are CPA offers out there that pay $300 a qualified lead. I have no personal interest in this niche, but I do like high paying niches. I would outsource my blog content writing if I did not want to take the time to research the articles myself.

Don't let lack of writing skills, or any Internet marketing skills stop you.

Regarding the bolded text: yes, when it comes to a personal blog. The OP, given the location of this post (an Internet Marketing forum), probably wants to blog and earn an income. In most cases, that is going to require some talent.

It is not snobbery; it is respect for the talents of accomplished writers.

Anybody is entitled to start a blog, of course, but you ought to have some talent at writing if your aim is to make blogging a profitable enterprise. No different to, say, having some serious design skills if you wish to make money creating ebook covers.

Yes, practice writing -- but practice in a specific way. Do not practice your writing on the keyboard of your computer. Practice by copying good written content by writing it out longhand. By copying good writing in longhand, you are forming pathways in your brain so that you can start thinking 'good writing'. Thinking good writing will translate into writing good writing.
Copy longhand. over and over and over until it becomes natural to think good writing.
        Good luck.

If your not good at 'writing', then blogging won't be the 'right' fit for you [until] you improve your skills.

Or you could just find another medium of marketing like video ETC.

Hey mate, do not be discouraged. If Bill Gates can have Asperger Syndrome (a mild form of autism) and run a multi-billion $ biz, you can blog with your current skillset.

Just write, or dictate, and get someone else to edit it for you.

Having said that, if you REALLY want to excel, then you will have to read and study and work on your writing skills, so that you become excellent at it.

    Be encouraged!

    Have a brilliant day,

    hi
If you have a blog, it is because you want to talk about your own passion, something that interests you and you care.
Knowing how to write, but you speak simply write properly and not ungrammatical.
Knowing writing online: it is, after all, to learn the four rules that have nothing to do with the language to use. But rules are important because they give more power to our text and more understandable.
    cheers

For any apparent lack of ability I have, or time or even motivation for that matter, I outsource to people that are much more capable then myself in that particular area.

If writing is not your thing, then there are many competent copywriters out there that specialize in all sorts of topics that would be more than happy to contribute to your blog. I have worked with quality writers that have delivered me 500+ word articles for as little as $5. Yep, you read that right!

Read and write as much as possible.

Find your own voice, so that you attract readers who are just like you, and your content creation becomes enjoyable instead of a chore.

Get people comfortable with your brand by writing like you're talking to friends.

    Keep it conversational.

    Why?

When people are comfortable with you, they're more likely to listen to you.

Listening enables you to build CREDIBILITY.

Build enough credibility and you become an AUTHORITY.

Become AUTHORITATIVE enough and you'll have a LOYAL COMMUNITY around your content.

I realize those who say they are poor in writing actually only lack confidence.

It's like saying "I can't do public speaking". But they have no problem speaking to a group of friends...

    So my suggestion is:

    1) don't worry about your lack of skill. If you have passion for your topics, it will outshine your writing skills

    2) Use what I call the "brain fart" technique. Which means, don't edit while you are writing your first draft. This way, you will write faster. You can edit on the second draft

    3) there are many grammar editor around. If you are a grammar nazi, get one so u can edit for grammar errors

Final rule. Always write as if you are talking to a friend, not to your grammar teacher. the key to blogging is understanding your audience and write what they are interested.

You can outsource to better writers if you have the funds. Also, try to have longer articles... i.e. 750 words or 1000 words. Google loves longer contents nowadays.

      go to fiverr.com

You could bullet point the ideas you have and pay some else to craft up your daily blog. There are some fabulous people on fiverr. Look around you may want to try a few of them, and then settle with working with one person - then the style of writing will be the same.

      Best of luck.

Great advice here, and actually I was a little put off by El Guapo's response at first, but he ended it with really fantastic advice that may have been overlooked because of the sting of that initial 'slap':

"...one exception to this rule is if you put out spectacular content that is not dependent on the written word, such as PPC case studies or cooking videos.

Instead, you should consider what talents you do have. Then perhaps look to partner up with other people whose talents complement your own."

Brilliant, and really opens things up for literally anyone.

Did someone tell you this? Plenty of poor writers make it big in Internet marketing.

Try to write your posts or whatever with a purpose (solve a problem, explain how-to something) etc. and you'll do okay.

If you are concerned about your grammar then why not get things proofread. You could outsource that for very little.

I was also thinking ( addressed to OP) have you considered starting a blog about your journey to learn English? You can write Posts everyday and be a shining example to others ( through your improvement with each Post) that English can be mastered by most anyone.

Throw up some Adsense or Language CPAs while you are at it or build a List with a newsletter on tips to improve your English in 30 days
Better yet, write an Ebook to show the EXACT Steps of how you went from a total non english speaking person to one that mastered it.

      Hi Karanjain1994

You say you have poor writing skills. How is your recording voice?

The reason I ask is that one of the best ways to engage a user is with video.

If you can create an engaging video with your Smart Phone and put it up on your blog your audience will grow and grow.

Works great! Give it a try!

      Cheers!

When you say you have poor writing skills is that your own opinion? or has anyone actually said that to you? We are very quick to judge ourselves, sometimes to hard, and without good reason.

I believe that anything can be learned if we just study and want it bad enough. So as others have said study some good writing, and write as much as you can yourself. Practice makes perfect

A lot of good answers in this thread.

First, read a few articles on improving your writing.

    Then, try writing exercises.

Here is a website I use to improve my writing.

Writing Exercises and Prompts (im not affiliated).

I know it's mainly for creative writing, but it still improves your writing skills that you can use for blogging. Having an entertaining post that is also informative is the key to having a great blog that people come back for.
