Monetization Strategies Without Worrying About Refunds

12 replies
What are monetization strategies that can be done without worrying about refunds/chargebacks?

So far I can think of are:
*Adsense (unless caught with fraud clicks)

*serve CPM banners as a publisher

*Sell products/services via Craigslist and accept cash, money order or check

*Sell products/services via offline marketing and accept cash, money order or check

*Vending machines

I'm sure there are much more options?

    Here's one I've seen often lately:

    Software for binary options trading. The vendor gives the software away for free, so there's no reason for anyone to ask for a refund.

    Once they download the software, the user is told that they MUST sign up and make a deposit with one or more binary options trading brokers that the software vendor recommends. They are told that the software will work with those brokers only.

    Those are CPA offers that pay the software vendor $150-$400 per signup. They give the product away, and make money with the CPA signups on the backend.

    No refunds.

    There are probably ways to twist that to work with other products.

    Pretty much any type of ppv/ppc traffic. No worrying about refunds, handling customers, etc. Just run traffic, optimize, and get paid.

      @essmeier:
      That's a great idea...Other possible options are PPD and like what you said binary options CPA, maybe forex, poker, etc where user needs to download the software for free then make deposit to use the software. No need to worry about losing a sale!

      @EricBernard:
      Ummm...I think you misunderstood...worrying about refunds on monetization part not the traffic part. For example, let's say selling products on Ebay is one type of monetization strategies. However, you could lose a sale if your buyer wants a refund.

    Adsense have worked out well on my part. One thing you need so as to be always on the safe side of the rules and regulations is going through the policies that govern the entire thing. They keep on changing the rules and adding new ones and therefore from time to time, there is that need for you to get the updates. Adsense is one of the most paying online affiliate marketing. As long as you have been able to meet the criteria they want, you will be earning good cash for sometime.

    The best option in this case is Adsense in my own opinion

    Why are you so concerned with refunds/chargebacks?

    If you rely on Google AdSense... what if a swarm of competitors come to your site, and deliberately clicks on 1 AdSense ad 100 times. Then do the same thing for the next 7 days. You might get flagged - and possibly banned.

    Which one is worst in your opinion? A refund, or a lifetime ban?

    There are not that many options. With advertising networks such as AdSense, Chitika etc. you are on the right track. However, if you promote quality products with healthy margins you don't need to worry about refunds.

    One approach you could take is to sell very small pamphlets

    These are very topical and address a REAL need

    These include charts and simple step by step ACTIONABLE information

    Best of all, these sell for $1

    The key is to use these $1 sales to get people on your list (they have to join the list to get the SUPPLEMENT to your $1 booklet)

    Most people don't bother with $1 refunds

    CPA is the obvious answer. With most offers (except for fraud) once the action is completed, you get paid no matter what the prospect does afterwards.

      When you accept checks, it's true that you don't have to worry about chargebacks. Stopped payments after delivery and bounced checks, but no to chargebacks.

      If you have a decent product that is what you say it is and does what you say it does, refunds and chargebacks should be minimal. Just factor them into your revenue calculations.
