How would you (quickly!) monetize this? (news/sports related)...

I have a sports related photo that might go viral in a big way.

It's topical + newsworthy -- so, if it does go viral, it will be TODAY + TONIGHT only!

The iron is HOT + I must strike now.

I can attach a domain name to the photo -- so I will get some traffic to the site, I guess.

I need to throw something up (site) right away. WHAT would you suggest I put on the site? Links to affiliate products? Amazon books? Google ads?

I don't want to build a list, etc.

How about trying to SELL the space on the photo where the domain name would be + let some OTHER site get the traffic?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm thinking maybe something along the lines of how to profit from your digital photography, and/or how to use it as viral marketing for your Web site. If they made it to your site because of a viral digital photo, you obviously know how it works.

Rob -- I don't have a website (yet). I want to know what I should do to set one up (immediately) + what to put on it (easily) that would benefit from the traffic I may get when/if the photo goes viral.

Throw up a Wordpress blog and use an Adsense-enabled template. Put up affiliate links for some Clickbank products on how to make money from your digital photography (there are several), or maybe something sports related. Clickbank has a fair number of football gambling systems and stuff, that might work too since people are starting to think about it now.

TW, the quickest way to monetize an ephemeral like this is to outright sell the rights to the photo to the highest bidder.

Contact sports-related magazines and TV shows, describe the photo and offer it to the highest bidder.

I'm really curious as to what this Vick photo is about. I hope you post a link to your site or whatever after it goes live.

John -- how much could I get (range)?

Also, problem: to describe it is to make it vulnerable to theft -- no? (as in, "sounds like a great idea -- thanks! -- click" [they hang up + do it themselves]).

Anyone here have a sports related site? I could attach your url to the pic before I send it out to be viral. pm me.

I've heard of celebrity photos going for $5,000 on up - if they're truly unique. Usually that means someone was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time with a camera handy.

If you're talking about a photo already in the public arena, that you will doctor to make your photo opp, selling the rights to a magazine or TV show go away.

You might want to look at something like Cafe Press and go the T-shirt route - like the vendors outside sporting events.

      Good luck with it...

Oh... so I'm guessing this is not a photo of Michael Vick actually doing something (like kicking a dog that is wearing an Eagles jersey), but you're going to Photoshop an existing picture into something humorous?

If it's truly newsworthy, you could sell the photo to the media.

Contact the 4 biggest news networks in your area and see what they offer you.

I've been paid 1000 for good photos of local news.
