Default Big Brother Yahoo to Take Your Profits

Just received this message from Yahoo search. Apparently, Yahoo will be evaluating the "performance" of traffic and charge more for better performing traffic, and less for poorer performing traffic.

Maybe Yahoo should just come out and say it's evaluating how much money you're making and the higher your ROI the more you pay.

"As part of an ongoing effort to strengthen our marketplace, Yahoo! plans to soon expand the adjustments we make to click charges based on our assessment of the performance of traffic coming from sources within our distribution network. This will include deeper discounts on click charges for lower-performing traffic, and potential premiums on click charges for higher-performing traffic....

This change is designed to further align your click charges with the performance of the traffic that you receive....

These adjustments will be based on our assessment of the performance of the traffic source, and will not be affected by the quality of your ads."

------

One way to "align" costs based on the performance of traffic is to "allow" a 10 percent maximum profit. If traffic performs worse, reduce the costs. If traffic performs better, raise costs.

I'm now off to remove all conversion tracking from my Yahoo account.
