New Theme-->Google Analytics & Adsense Drop

I've lurked (some) here for several months, and am trying to better understanding IM in general as a way to supplement my primary business.

I have a website that gets between 1 and 1.5 million pageviews per month. From that, I was making around $125-$150/day. About 4 weeks ago, I moved to a new WordPress theme, which obviously would create an entirely different ecology for Adsense--new ad placements, new crawling from search engines, new ad sizes, new ad opportunities, etc.

With this new theme, I added a huge billboard, leaderboards, etc, as each page permitted. So I was confused when the earnings plummeted--and not for 2-3 days, or a week, but weeks later it's still an issue. I have leaderboard ads making .15 (as in three nickles). Overall, I'm earning around $20 a day now. Doesn't make any sense. I have seen the new "viewable" metric, which I suspect could be the issue. The ads are showing between 40-50% viewable rates (I understand 65-75% is average?). Could this account for the massive drop--the new metric?

I've also had to "Create new ads" 1-15 times as I try new spots (to rename the ad so I can track performance). Could this result in lower "bidding" as it ramps up over time?

Also, today I noticed on Google Analytics that traffic fell completely off (see screenshot), even though there are always 75-125 people on the site at any given time.

My first step is going to look into more strategic placement of the ads to result in a higher viewable rate. But past that. I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be hugely appreciated. I have to restabilize the adsense so I can pay my bills, then move on to better revenue sources.
