Article to video ... Should I just use powerpoint?

Hey, I have been looking into "article to video" software, and it all looks good. They seem pretty cool. But does anyone out there just use power point and do it yourself?

I don't mind paying for something if it will do the job, but also don't want to pay for something I can do for free!

That being said, if you think power point will produce less than desirable results, do you have any suggestions on a particular piece of software or service??

If you're talking about having a power point presentation with you talking over it, I think it will be fine. I've had fantastic results doing that.

I wouldn't waste my money on that, if you want to do it for free then you can just get some generic background images that are relevant to the article and ether just read the article on your mic or use a free piece of software called "Natural Reader 2008" which can be found here:

    naturalreaders {dot} com/ download .htm

Then just shoot the video with the generic images/video playing in the background. It can be done for free, so I wouldn't waste my money on it. Also, if you really want to get advanced, you can get creative and use xtranormal{dot} com/ Free service and make your article video like a conversation between two people. That is what I do. Any way I hope that helps.

The last time I looked you had to pay a fee to use xtranormal for business purposes but it's free otherwise.

    Hi Ashley,

I don't think power point is all that bad. To me it is more to do with time and ease of use that makes software worth using.

I am a huge fan of Article video robot for these exact reasons, plus it's 50% off.(discount code in my sig).

So it comes down to spending 50 cents a video that can be made with a click of a button or copy and paste and being able to upload them to 17+ video sites VS manually playing around with power point and then submitting them to video sites.

It all comes down to what is your time worth to you?

      I'm with Dean on this..

Use Power Point for a very professional looking presentation. It's easy to use. I learned how to use it from scratch in just minutes. PP has built-in templates you can use with a click of your mouse.

You don't have to record you voice reading them. You can just add music. It just depends on the final purpose of your video article.

Record with Camtasia, then import an audio clip (.mp3) and drag to the audio timeline and adjust length and volume as needed.

I've personally put my slides together first (breaking up my article into bite sized sentences) and when all is done, I turn on Camtasia, adjust for the screen size and hit the "start" button and read the text as I went from slide to slide. Worked great!

Just add Edit Plus 3 (free), push a couple of buttons and this is done for you automatically. Also can be imported into PowerPoint slides automatically.

        Sweet!

Power point can be imported into Windows Movie Maker. All of the files have to be Microsoft PP files though I think.

Big Mike has software to create Articles into Video. It's all GFX Video Writer - Here's a video I created experimentally with using it.

Wow thanks for all the responses!

The general consensus seems to be that PP is fine. and actually I dont want to create outstanding award winning videos : ), just me talking over it or just the words put up there.

I think actually I should of looked at PP before I asked. The last time I used it was in high school about 6 or 7 years ago, so it seems it has gotten better! I was remembering the "generic" look and feel it had.

I will definitely be using these!

I mainly want it to get some video traffic. Get my message out there in a different way!

So thanks for the help, and you saved me a few bucks!

      Ashley

Ps Aaron, that was the software I looked at, article video robot. If PP doesnt work out I will be using your sig link!

If you have a PC use Window's Movie Maker. I take a picture that I want to use and then place the titles on the page from the Movie Maker. Really easy to do.
