Email Marketing Application Interface Ui's Opinions Needed!

Right, im about 3 months into developing an email marketing application that will be cheaper, "ajaxifyed" and freshly pumped with innovative features.

I am currently going through a phase where I want to change the layout but im torn between the two. Your opinions and critique would be great!

I prefer the second because the header section is alot more minimal and in the back end the code is alot cleaner.
