Default index.html-index.php is there a conflict and given a choice which one will the browsers default to?

Hi All,

Given a choice between index.html and index.php do all browsers default the same way and which way? Can having both in the same directory hurt anything?

You set up the prirority in your hosting configuration, whether index.php or index.html would go first if both existed. The browser doesn't decide over it, it depends on how you configure your hosting

Edit (or create) the .htaccess file in your root directory.

Put this in there ...

_____________

DirectoryIndex index.php
_____________

or
_____________

DirectoryIndex index.html
_____________

You can find out more about .htaccess using Big G

Cheers

By default index.html will show over anything else. However as above, you can change this behaviour.
