Would you start a product launch to your list during the Christmas / New Years holiday season?

I'm going to do a launch to my list of 10,000 and I'm wondering if I should start the launch over the Christmas/New Year holiday period or should I wait until after the holidays?

The launch will be a 9 day long Jeff Walker PLF style launch for a membership site that I'm offering to my list for a special introductory deal of only $15.00 per month.

I have reservations because people tend to be scattered dealing with Christmas and partying, etc., but on the other hand many have time off then and could be around to open the emails and digest my launch content.

What do you think? Any experience with starting a launch over the holidays? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm getting a lot of affiliate emails for a couple of launches right now, like autorespondermadness dot com. PROS are they (as Yoda might say).

If not a full out launch, then a teaser launch might let you test your list.

How often do you send them stuff? And what have you taught them to expect from you? I always have a Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday offer, a Christmas offer, a New Year's offer...all for different things.

Since you are using the Jeff Walker model, you might want to confer with him, eh?

They aren't used to holiday stuff from me and I haven't offered them anything to buy in a year. I email them whenever I upload a new blog post. The last time I emailed them a few weeks ago I got a 17% open rate, 10 unsubscribed and zero complaints out of 10,000 emails sent.

How would you "confer" with them?

Well, across the board stats on Alexa.com for Warrior Plus and JVZoo show a decline every year at this time, and then it starts spiking up about the 3rd week of January and early February and climbs from that point until around May or June.

Alexa.com may not be completely accurate, but It has shown the same consistent pattern for a few years now.

Evening time on December 25th has been great for me for promotions, however, every time.

I personally think it would likely be better to wait for New Years, but that's just my opinion

And what do you base that opinion on?

I would wait until after new years... product sales decline every year at this time.

This is quite an interesting question and all I can base my answer on (at the moment) is with affiliate sales from my own websites where buyers start hibernating when they realise that the postal system has shut down for Christmas!

Saying that, over the past few years, in-between the odd drink or three, I've found myself trawling through the likes of Warrior, JVzoo, clickbank etc. looking at what's new, and there always seems to be new stuff being released at sometime in the holiday season.

My gut feeling would be to wait until the next year has started properly, end of Jan/ beginning Feb, but be interesting to hear of any positive experiences from other who have done otherwise.

      Cheers
      Jon

I'm still working on a lot of the little details for the launch so I'm not quite ready to start it yet even if I wanted to. I noticed that Frank Kern just started a launch and Everwebinar is ending their launch in a couple days. I know Jeff Walker has done launches that started at the end of the first week in January.

When a product is ready, launch it.

What Jill said... good idea. I hear this question every year and lots of people think that everyone is preoccupied with the holidays this time of year. Many marketers wait until the new year to launch or start advertising again so the people you market to now are getting less offers which means less competition for you.

There you go . . . you answered your own question. You now have about 10 days more to really prepare for and make your launch an over-the-top success.

There is no time like the present to make your launch even more compelling and rock solid than it would have been had you not had the extra time to put into it.

Work you hind end off over the next ten days to assure yourself phenomenal success!

      Good luck to you,

      Steve

Yes i would. If they don't buy right now, as long as i get them into my autoresponder sequence, i know alot of them will convert later.... due to spending of money for others during Christmas Holiday season (no offense to those who dont celebrate Christmas).
