When I first started I knew absolutely nothing. I used the provided capture page, the provided email follow ups given by the vendor. And just went crazy driving traffic.

I made almost $1,000 my first 14 days online and almost $3,000 my first 30 days.

As I learned more and more about the market and industry I was in I started to create my own content and share my own opinions on what was working for me.

So yes I did make money in a space I knew nothing about, and almost 9 years later I know a whole bunch about it.

When I first started out online, I started my marketing in the weight loss niche which was absolutely NOT my speciality...

I ended up making a few hundred bucks there before I switched over to the Internet Marketing niche.

Anything is possible, but you would like to give yourself the best possible chance by choosing a niche you know at least a little but about.

Well, I am succeeding in a niche I had no clue, at all, about.

When I first started online a few years ago, I had no idea about blogging, internet marketing and affiliate marketing. I mean, I did not even know what "Blogging" was, or what a "Domain Name" was.

I had no idea about ANYTHING.

Plus, I was still learning English too! hahaha ...

So, I started from the very bottom. From the very scratch.

And I worked my way up from there.

I started to invest in my internet marketing education. And I started to learn a lot about blogging and affiliate marketing.

I spent countless hours, and long nights, studying, testing, implementing, and just being all over the place, to learn it all. It took about 2 years to make my first dollar online.

It was a very long and challenging journey for me.

But, I never gave up. And I'm going to be honest, there were many times when I did think about quitting.

I just kept on pushing, and kept on studying, learning, testing, and implementing.

Today, I can build you a very nice WordPress Site in just a few minutes. I have made good money selling my skills. I have built many WordPress Membership Sites and simple WordPress Sites for hundreds of people.

I'm also building a passive income stream from Blogging - in the Internet Marketing Niche and also with Network Marketing.

I have helped so many people online too. I teach a lot of knowledge, every week, to a lot of people. And I truly love it!

It became a big passion to teach others about internet marketing, blogging, affiliate marketing, SEO, etc.

I'm shooting straight to the stars in this Niche. And take note that the internet marketing niche is one of the most competitive niches!

But that did not matter to me.

    I had a dream.

    I had a vision.

That one day, I will be doing what I am doing today. hehehe

And look, I am a high school dropout. I moved to the US at the age of 15.

When I first started online, I was 22 years old - and let me tell you, I was still learning English! LOL

So, if I can come this far - how far can someone who graduated high school, and maybe even went to college, and English is their first language - can go???!!

    You tell me!!

    Anything is Possible my friend!

You should know your stuffs first before outsourcing to other people. If the things are done at 80% at your expectation you can delegate those tasks without a doubt. John Chow is making money just by outsourcing. Yes, it is possible to success just like John Chow. His blog is full of ideas which you can make use of.

YES, it is surely possible to succeed without hard work, just by outsourcing with your dollars. That's the hard truth.

Well, it would be better if you create your website in a niche you have some knowledge about, but with the internet being what it is today, you can become an expert in almost any domain in no time.

It`s logical that it will be a little harder at first in a niche that you aren`t familiarized with but it won`t be impossible to obtain a revenue.

The trick is to find a system that works for you and try to apply that system with adaptations to different niches.

Also, please don`t get discouraged, give it time, you can`t make money overnight .

Just to show how it can be done, a few years ago, I was looking for weird things to sell on an ebay store, I decided to go way out there, and went for meteorites.

All I needed to do was write up a few pages, which I researched, and added the categories.

I made several hundred dollars from my meteorite site, and I have never even held one in my hand.

I no longer have the site, it was an automated script that ebay has since banned, shame on them...

Over 15 years later as I look back it was the niches that I was most interested in that I did the best in. In some cases I did a lot of my own research and became interested of course.

When I first started working online I knew nothing about any of the niches I entered and made money in everyone. For every niche (around 100 different ones) I outsourced content creation to Mechanical Turk for literally $0.30 an article.

Was it sustainable? NO. Various Google updates later put paid to a lot of the sites and any plans to add new ones using the same process.

Would I recommend it? NO. If you outsource work about something you know nothing about how can you possible know if it is any good when it comes back?

Six years later I am much wiser (and still doing this as my full time job) and I make sure that I fully understand the niches I am in. Of course I didn't know these things when I first started, I had to learn them.

      What have I learned?

      1. You can go into niches successfully that you know nothing about BUT you need to learn about them first. So, if you have some interest, at least, in the niche then the learning experience can be a good one. If you have zero interest then you will have difficulty learning anything.

So from that respect it's clearly better to go into a niche that interests you.

If you narrowed down a niche to a marketable chunk then the amount you need to learn (to become proficient enough to create a small product) is actually quite small.

Certain niches that involve "physical" skills are an exception of course. If you plan to teach someone how to program, or play the piano or become martial arts master then you really need to already posses those skills. You won't learn those overnight.

But the information about how to lose 10 pounds in 30 days, how to reduce acne scarring, puppy potty training etc can all be found online and learned in a few weeks.

      2. If you go into one niche and learn about it, focus on it become a true expert and put in the time, you will find it very easy to succeed.

This is a really good point. I do not see anyway around it with examples like this. I guess you could be an affiliate with a Piano Course and have kind of a generic site with videos of piano players or something. But I just think you would really need to know something about playing piano to maximize your success

    'Success' is really subjective.

There might be someone who regards a few hundred Dollars per month added to several other product income streams as a success. There might be 'success' but great margin for more in contrast to having experience in the product, and this is probably something some people might never know unless they go on to research and release a future version.

Others, with more focus on the single product (or few) might regard it as unsuccessful.

Outsourcing is rife, but it's perhaps only truly plausible if we are also outsourcing to a handful of people who effectively check the developed content, otherwise we'd be playing blind. This would then reflect in the success of the product in whatever context that might be measured.

This is why most "warriors" won't succeed online and is probably the joke of the real internet marketing community online. Everyone wants a shortcut without putting in the hours to research a niche and become knowledgeable on it, and then building a website that people will care about. I only started to "succeed" (as in create a reasonably sustainable, organically growing income) when I got heavily invested into a niche I am passionate about.

Any other way you will either lose interest, churn out shitty content nobody cares about (and then have to use crappy link building methods because no authority site would dream of linking to you organically), and then be paranoid constantly about losing your income on the next google algo update.

If people just spent at least 6 months to a year looking into a niche very carefully, gathering knowledge, and doing personal research, and THEN bothered building a quality website, they might have some success. But everyone wants to sell eachother "make money online" methods and call it a "business" (or other popular niches where everyone copies eachother). More and more hype isn't the solution. If you are serious about IM then you will need to have some serious motivation, it's nowhere near as effortless as everyone thinks it is going to be.

Someone has said above "success is relative". I agree. I wouldn't say I have had success. But i have done websites with a niche that I know nothing about it and hired writers and monetize it with adsense and other Ads and I have been earning a decent amount of $$$ for years. This being said, nowadays the content quality is the most important thing, so this "method" is no longer working for me. So I'm focusing on creating really good quality myself.

I have my own digital products in various niches. I knew a little, but a lot of researching and testing resulting in some very good profit making products. I have sold everything form physical products, digital products, kindle, affiliate marketing, private labeling, etc. Now I concentrate on 1 thing until I am successful then I move to the next. I use to jump around from method to method. Just do your research and test out the market.

Sure yes. Its much more important to actually find hot niches than to know anything about them.

If you find a niche that you can generate optins on using a simple landing page and a very small adwords budget, then you are on to something.

Once you know you have some proven demand *then* learn more about it and become an expert.

You don't need to be an expert in ANYTHING to build entertainment sites that make a shedload of money through Adsense, Outbrain, etc. All you need to be able to do is build a half decent Wordpress site, install some plugins and hire someone to write bog standard - but unique - content. Learn how to drive social traffic and dig your nails in for the long run... code systems to automate if you know PHP, CRON and databases.

Eventually yes but there was very little outsourcing, especially at the beginning!

I started off doing amazon affiliate marketing and I was following the many sites are best (even if they only have a few pages!) and some did great, others not so much but it was paying the bills so the wife was happy.

One thing I did notice is that even creating basic sites, using Wordpress, you notice your skillset increases very quickly and you start to become experienced in areas where others haven't got a clue.

I suppose that's half the battle with anything online (or offline for that matter), you just need to take action. If something doesn't work for you, don't forget that you've learnt a bunch of stuff along the way and others will pay for your knowledge!

      Cheers

Back then i didn't even knew about Internet Marketing.. so what i did was i copied what he used on me and made my own similar product. Made about 20k with it in 2 years.. could've had more but i was a noob and didn't knew anything about traffic and such. Got all my traffic from torrents..
