By 'so many backlinks from Google'? Do you mean internal links?

You should focus on earning backlinks from top blogs in the design niche like smashing magazine and similar sites.

      Technical Definition of Domain Authority

Domain Authority is Moz's calculated metric for how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google's search results. It is based off data from the Mozscape web index and includes link counts, MozRank and MozTrust scores, and dozens of other factors. It uses a machine learning model to predictively find an algorithm that best correlates with rankings across thousands of search results that we predict against.
It's best to use Page Authority (PA) and Domain Authority (DA) as comparative metrics when doing research in the search results and determining which sites/pages may have more powerful/important link profiles than others. While specific metrics like MozRank can answer questions of raw link popularity--and link counts can show the raw quantities of pages/sites linking--the authority numbers are high-level metrics that attempt to answer the question, "How strong are this page's links in terms of helping them rank for queries in Google.com?"
      SEO Best Practice

How do I influence this metric?
Unlike other SEO metrics, Domain Authority is difficult to influence directly. It is made up of an aggregate of metrics (MozRank, MozTrust, link profile, and more) that each have an impact on this score. This was done intentionally; this metric is meant to approximate how competitive a given site is in Google.com. Since Google takes a lot of factors into account, a metric that tries to calculate it must incorporate a lot of factors, as well.
The best way to influence this metric is to improve your overall SEO. In particular, you should focus on your link profile--which influences MozRank and MozTrust--by getting more links from other well-linked-to pages.

It is not based on the amount of backlinks but the quality or authority of those backlinks.

MOZ specifically say "link profile" not links. That also means links from different domains/ip's etc.

i.e.The trustworthiness of the linking domain.
      • The popularity of the linking page.
      • The relevancy of the content between the source page and the target page.
      • The anchor text used in the link.
      • The amount of links to the same page on the source page.
      • The amount of domains that link to the target page.
      • The amount of variations that are used as anchor text to links to the target page.
      • The ownership relationship between the source and target domains.
Check the links in my earlier post as all the information you need is there.

Have you also compared other metrics like MozRank, MozTrust.

look also at majestic to get a good idea of your link profiles

      i.e.
      https://majestic.com/reports/site-ex...exDataSource=F

Compare link and anchor profiles and trust and citation flow against you competitors.

Look at the referring domains vs backlinks

Are you targeting specific keywords with specific pages?
or are you targeting your url and brand?
Are you focusing link building on your home page only?

Importantly, what is your actual goal. What are you trying to achieve?

DA is just one measure by one company. Is DA really your ultimate goal? I doubt it.

Start to look beyond DA. What other factors are different between your site/pages and your competitors.

Check all the keywords you are targeting and identify the PA of each of the pages appearing in the results against your competitors. That may give you some more info into your link profile.

Looking at the front end figures like DA and PA you get a simplistic view of what is a very complex algorithm. So the front end data only tells you so much. You then need to drill down into the detail to find your answers.

Realistically only by comparing your details with your page one competitors will you see what is different and what you need to do or change. That is a lot easier at a page/keyword level.

Also don't confuse "Domain Authority" with "authority site". While it is not unreasonable to expect an authority site to have a high DA that is correlation not effect.

DA is a specific measure based mainly on link profile and specifically NOT on content. An authority site would definitely expect to have a lot of high quality content, which in turn would expect to attract many good backlinks.

I don't think there is a simple answer to your original question other than the ones given previously.

I think you have three practical options

      1. Learn more about SEO so you identify you specific issue/weak areas
      2. Hire someone who can do that for you
      3. Don't fret over DA and continue adding more high quality content, building backlinks both to your brand and your targeted keywords and any social measures you want. Over time you build more authority into the site.

According to experts, there are more than 200 factors on which Google decides the Domain and Page authority of any website.

Very few of them are :

    1. Website domain age
    2. Website content,
    3. No. of inbound and outbound links
    4. Anchor text optimization
    5. Quality of outbound and inbound links
    6. Referring domains, etc.

Domain and Page Authority are specific MOZ measures and NOT Google.

Google will use the things you mentioned above (and more) to decide on a web page's place in a specific set of search results.

They will also identify a site's "authority" but this is not a specific measure but a subjective view.

Only link metrics effect MOZ Page and Domain Rank (specific measures)

Page Rank is or was Google's measure of domain authority but I don't think that is updated or used these days.

If the OP wants to increase Domain Authority then improving the link profile is the main way forward. If they want to increase their search rankings then that will get a more expanded answer.

It's just a metric I wouldn't focus on it too much unless you're trying to sell your site.

If you really need to increase your DA though build links from authority high DA sites.

Link diversity. Apart from link building techniques it’s very important how you are diversifying and varying your anchor text while building link to your site. Make sure that you are not over optimizing your anchor text as this is strictly against penguin algo update So make sure that you include variations of your anchor text while building links to your website or blog.
