WordPress v WordPress Direct

Hello. Completely new to affiliate marketing and am doing the 30DC. On Day 6 they introduce Wordpress Direct. Being a newbie I thought this was simply WordPress. But, I was wrong. Anyone have experience with both or either of these? Wondering if there is any advantage to WordPress Direct? Thanks, in advance, for helping out a newbie.

WordPress Direct has nothing to do with the free software product published by the WordPress team (see wordpress.net and wordpress.com). It's a 3rd party product that scrapes content from other blogs based on keywords.

In my opinion, you're best to learn how to install and maintain wordpress yourself, so you have total control and you don't have monthly fees just for having your site live. (other than web hosting which is cheap anyway)

What about having it hosted on wordpress.com in order to garner intrinsic page rank?

I am doing the 30 day challenge and I know Wordpress inside out, but I thought I'd give Wordpress Direct a go just for the sake of the challenge. However, I didn't really like it, it is suppose to make things a bit easier, but I don't think it does, especially if you already know Wordpress and I think long term it is better to learn Wordpress the 'real' way anyway.

I deleted my sites and changed back over to the normal Wordpress installation and am much happier doing it that way.
