Lazy Cheap Marketer

Hey Warriors!

I think I'm going to nickname myself the lazy cheap marketer. Why? I want my vlogs transcribed but the transcription for the volume I have is pricey for something I could do myself easily (that's the cheap part). The lazy part? I'm actually trying to see if I can somehow set up my Dragon Naturally Speaking to "listen" to my YouTube video and auto type it for me. LOL

Not sure if it'll work but I'll die trying to cut corners when work is involved.

You should be able to do that. With DNS 10 preferred you can transcribe an mp3. There's probably some way to transcribe the audio portion of your video as well.

Hopefully there's a way that's better than simply putting your microphone next to your speakers.

Adam LOL that's what I was gonna do

I have the travel version so I could put that little recorder next to the speakers.

Who knows if it'll work - if so, MAN I could use this with all sorts of stuff!!! Like that tip Ghalt gave in the War Room...

I'm sure it will work to some degree. Just be ready for a little more editing than you're used to.

Yeah last time I used it it worked pretty well in general but I missed a sentence (for a client of all things) where I'd said something about letting the caulk harden and can you guess what word it substituted for caulk? (Hint: Here in the South we leave the L out).

Wasn't pretty.

Tiff,

I remember the statement about that challenge from your highly entertaining and educational Ustream! Great job by the way.

Another alternative is Google Voice. I've just started playing with it (thanks - George!). It's free, and it automatically transcribes your voice mails to text! But, it's not nearly as accurate as DNS, but it's free. And in case you're cheap

, did I mention it's free?

Tiffany, if possible for you - donwload your videos, separate the audio from the video and save the audio as mp3 file ... you can plug this file into Dragon Pro.

Awesome! Voice mails? As in I call you and leave a voicemail and you transcribe it? Odd! How would that come in handy business-wise I am curious?

I already have DNS (stupid thing takes up SO much room on my computer) so I'll try it and then if it's a stinker, I'll try Google. Thanks!

Wow separate my audio from video? That sounds like a sci fi movie to me. LOL. Do all DNS have the pro? I have the version 9 of DNS (travel version).

There is a free utility that will convert embedded .FLV files (ie, YouTube video) to MP3 audio. It's called YouTube Downloader - YouTube Downloader - Software to download and convert YouTube video

If the files are in some other format, there is another free utility called Super. It will convert just about any media file to any other format. I've used it to create cellphone videos from DVDs. Anyway, it will extract the audio portion of a video file - .mov, avi, mpeg, whatever, and convert it to .wav, wmv or mp3. The download link is hard to find - go to the bottom of this page: SUPER videos and look for where it says: "Download SUPER © setup file from our nth dedicated server"
